Can anyone help please? I have a Dell Vostro about four months old. Last night a pop-up website delivered a System Security Pop-up which automatically started scanning my files till I managed to stop it. In addition to Norton, I have downloaded Lavasoft's Ad-Aware, A-Squared Malware and Malwarebytes-ANTI-Malware d5756 and all to no avail. Whenever I start the computer and go into Internet Explorer, the malware puts an icon on my desktop and starts running itself again. It is continually there in the lower start-up band and springs up even when I am cleaning files, so I know it's not being eliminated. Any suggestions as to what will work? I understood that Malwarebytes would be the strongest, but I now have four protection software packages and all of them have reported the computer is clean. But it obvioulsy isn't as I can't clear these continual pop-ops.
    Any urgent advice much appreciated?

Just to advise that the nuisance pop-up 'system security warning' I mention in the original question has an icon of a yellow shield with brown stripes on it and it is slowing my whole computer down. Does anyone recognise this please? What is the way of getting rid of it? Thanks

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Unless you have purchased the last three you mentioned, they do not provide protection. They are just after the fact scanners.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
