So I have a system that will boot up which has a self replicating worm (from what the client said) and when I get to the XP boot screen I cant use the mouse or keyboard. However if I press the numlock key the light lights up and responds. So my main question is since I have tried everything relating to get the Mouse and Keyboard to work to no avail, and have run malware removal tools from another system; is there a way to run ComboFix or SDFix in recovery console or a XP Boot Disc (Barts PE Etc). Let me know what you guys think. :cool

No! They only run from Windows.

This would be no different than cleaning the hard disk from another PC. Although you would at least be trying to run on the problem PC which would test to see if the BIOS, mouse, and keyboard hardware are okay.

Are you sure this is not a hardware issue? Sounds more like a keyboard/mouse problem or a BIOS issue that has disable them. Are you referring to USB devices? I suggest that you make sure you can use the keyboard at bootup to get into the BIOS and navigate around. Also try booting in safe mode to see if they work. Also try a different keyboard and mouse.
