I need help... I bought a new motherboard (the store's technician attached it) for my computer but sad to say that the store where I bought it could not provide me the CD that comes with the motherboard (saying that they lost it...whatever). Since, I needed to use the pc the soonest time possible, so I brought it home and tried to download from the internet the drivers needed for it to work. I downloaded the chipset already, however, much to my dismay there is still no audio. I ran the dxdiag but could not find the driver for sound. I also searched for it from the system information on the sound device but still it is not there. Here are the details that might help in finding the right audio driver for my motherboard.

    Name: Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller
    PNP Device ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2572&SUBSYS_25728086&REV_02
    \3&13C0B0C5&0&10
Adapter Type: Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller, Intel Corporation
    compatible
Adapter Description: Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller
    Installed Drivers: ialmrnt5.dll
    Driver Version: 6.14.10.4396
    INF File: oem1.inf (i865G section)

    Chipset: Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller

    General Info:

    Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20Ghz
    Mainboard: Springdale-G

Hope someone could help me with this. Thanks.

    Hi

As the name Springdale G is the chipset and version, it could cover a vast amount of various motherboard makes, so please run the below and attach a log.

To find this info you can use the likes of Everest to find this info, at times a summary log of your PC can help, to do this

    Install Everest and run
Click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose System Summary Only > Next
Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) and click Save (n.b. Save to desktop is best as easy place to find it, use Browse to locate desktop)

Do NOTE that some parts of this report may have information on your email address and IP address, edit these out and resave the text doc before attaching

Then attach your log to your next post as per these instructions HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

From this log we should be able to find your drivers.

*as a side note I hope you only paid 80% of the retail value of this motherboard as only half the package was supplied?

    Hi Halo,

Thank you for the quick reply.

I followed your advise and I am attaching it as a file in this reply. I hope I did it right. Hope to hear from you again soon.

Note: I still paid the exact amount for it. Really bad =(.

Hopefully you didn't pay much for the motheboard as it's an older model (judging from the chipset). Your first post only supplied us with the video chip info ( :confused ) so that isn't going to help fix the sound. Unfortunately the Everest report didn't really help much either. So, I'm going to provide a couple different sound drivers and hopefully one of 'em works... first install your chipset drivers and reboot when the install is finished. You can download the chipset drivers from this link. The first set of drivers I'm going to link to is the RealTek AC'97 Audio Drivers. Download and try to install 'em. If they don't work, go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall 'em if they're listed. Then try the CMedia 9739/9761 WDM Driver. The CMedia driver is zipped so it will need to be 'unzipped' before you can use it. If neither of these work, let us know and we'll try again!
