by click on the internet, i assume you mean internet explorer which is your browser. if IE is taking a while to start up, it doesnt have anything to do with your internet connection. i would recommend you do some computer clean up such as defrag, spyware scans, antivirus scans and what not. it wouldnt be a bad idea to run through the run and read me stuff found here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 to be sure youre computer is clean. if you do decide to run through the read and runme, please do not post the logs here. if you find that you have some malware, please make a post in the malware section and they can help you.

however, if IE starts up right away and takes a long time to connect to your homepage, then that would be a network/internet issue and could likely be caused by too much stuff running in the background that is trying to access the internet. in which case id still recommend doing some computer cleanup.

Defrag basically arranges stuff to be executed quicker. You find it by clicking start>All programs>Accessories>system tools there you have options to do several things and disk defragmenter is one of them. There are other ways to get to this as well but it may be better for you to use a defrag download from here as some tend to work better than the built in defragger in windows.

if you have too many programs running, you should probably go into control panel - add/remove programs and start getting rid of stuff you dont use.

you can also end processes in task manager, but not advised unless you know what the processes are.

another thing you should check into is your RAM. how much do you have? you can check by right clicking on My Computer and clicking properties. Itll tell you your system specs under the general tab. you might not have much installed on your computer, so an upgrade of more RAM would help a lot.

Check out this article on PC maintenance and follow the suggestions listed. This should help. Following the virus removal link posted above by King Steve is an excellent idea also. It's a long process but is fairly straightforward and easy to do if you're just patient and read all the way through a few times before starting. Plus, you can get help every step of the way if you do indeed have viruses... just start a thread in the Malware Removal forum if you have problems removing any viruses found.

    Good luck!
