Auto Redirect In Firefox

I am a native English speaker but, i live in Japan

How can i stop web pages taking me to their Japanese versions of the sites, such as youtube, google, e.t.c......?

can i even do this in fact as i am thinking that it is in the php/asp/html or whatever they use to code the site

or can i like 'hold down ctrl/alt/del' to stop it from happening

I had the same problem a while back and it turned out to be my OS.
The Os is Dutch and although i have it set to English US it brings up Dutch sites also sometimes if i load an application i select English the set up wizard goes straight to Dutch but when loaded it runs in English.
One of the things i changed was FF, i deleted it and downloaded it from a US site.
That helped a bit but i still get the Dutch thing happening so i just live with it.
