thats pretty bad. i highly doubt that will stand up in trial as it was a donation and i dont think the wife is legally required to pay him back for it...

That's ridiculous. It should be illegal to bring that type of crap to court. It should be thrown out as frivilous.

as long as there is a scumbag lawyer who thinks he (she, don't want to offend) can make a few bucks, it will make it to court

At $1.5 Mil, I would consider selling one! :-D

That is really just stupid. I think the judge should backhand that arsehat 3 times in the face, and fine him for all the related trial expenses. :tas

Not exactly what I was thinking at first. Lorena Bobbett came to mind with Stubbys remark about putting it in a jar.

I'm not so sure it is his kidney anymore, as virtually every cell in the human body gets replaced every seven years or so. Even though the replicant kidney will likely have his DNA, this is just a copy of the original, as the kidney that he donated got systematically deleted from her body. :)

I have always thought that if you gave something to someone, it was considered as a gift. Nobody held a gun on him during the operation, did they?

How shallow is that for a teacher! Makes me wonder if they have ever met a person of Indian origin, be that Native American or Far Eastern. I have lived as a minority amongst them, and they are overly generous to a fault - even to caucasian Westerners who oftentimes are nothing but overly critical of them and their lifestyle.

I realize it is old. My point was, regardless of how old the "saying" is, a teacher in today's PC school-world should have known better than to use it.

I think it's gotten kinda ridiculous how everyone is offended by something now days. It changes so fast you loose track of what nationality wants to be called what this week. Skins are becoming thinner and thinner. :(

    Lev MajorGeek

I'm so tired of hearing that "gotten ridiculous how everyone is offended" and "skins need to be thicker" argument over and over again. Funny how it repeatedly comes out until that person is themselves offended by something and then they complain to the highest mountain and feel justified in doing so. Interesting how that works.....

I know exactly what you mean! But the problem is most people really aren't that easily offended--its just a few that make it seem that way. At my job I am one of the few white people there--Everyone I work with directly (co-workers) is Hispanic, and 75% of my clients are either Hispanic or Native American. I find that I , at times am tripping over myself worried that I have said something that might be offensive and most of my co-workers will laugh at me for trying so hard, because they are not as thin skinned as you might think. There are always a few in every crowd and those are always the ones who ruin it for everyone. But it is always helpful to keep it in mind that it is usually a minority. :celebrate

To begin with none of that was aimed at you, so I have no idea why your so offended or what your getting at with me.

Where did it say your name in my posts Darlene? None of it was aimed at you - I too simply responded to content you posted. It seems I'm the one who hit a nerve and you're the one who got offended ;)

All my children have Native American heritage their grandmother (fathers side) was born on an Indian Reservation in Oklahoma.
The other side are Irish, so there could be some real good jokes come from that. Got to be able to laugh at yourself or life will eat ya. ;)

Actually, I thought the term "Indian Giver" came from the Indian Traders (i.e. white guys who were supposedly trading with indigenous races), who were always making promises to the Indian nations, and then taking the 'offer' back, once they got the deal. Like giving the Black Hills in South Dakota to the Lakota, then finding gold there, and trespassing for gold, afterwards, even though the land wasn't theirs.

Maybe, I had the term, (which I don't particularly like), all back-to-front?? :confused

Hmm, looks like it's related to different cultural value systems, then. Like some cultures don't know what 'lend' means - they think you're either giving to them, or you aren't. Getting a bit off-topic here, sorry about that.

  41. MichelleRH

    MichelleRH Private E-2

well we could tie it back by saying that the cheating lady obvious has a different value system than her husband and obviously doesn't have the same idea of sharing as her husband---how's that? :confused :p

  42. Phantom

    Phantom Brigadier Britches

That's more like personal values/ethics to me, but yeah, I get the drift. ;)Which is which the original post was about, since the dude seems more interested in publicity/financial gain than a third-hand kidney.

I'm sure it's to bring a LOT of attention to her infidelity more then anything.

  44. MichelleRH

    MichelleRH Private E-2

well that seems to be a good way--what better way to generate interest in some stranger's infidelity than to go to the media demanding her kidney! (a pound of flesh?)
