Looks like he gave it to you to avoid the cost of taking it to the recycling place. :-D

Took the words right out of my mouth. I looked in that top bay and thought, "Oh oh! Mouse nests!" Better clean those cases out outdoors (after storing them outdoors). Remember, mice chew wiring. :p

The stuff in the boxes might be OK though.

HEY! Give back my hampster powered Folding Farm! :-D

I get used 'puter stuff pretty often. Sometimes you get nice stuff, sometimes junk. But hey, for free... If you hose out those cases and oil the hampster wheels you might can toss a new pc in some of them. :cool

That's the kind of stuff I turn away now, there's just nothing you can do with them? You can't even give them away to charity over here they won't take them unless they are working.

You have a hand gun right? And a camera?

What can you do with an old freebie?I've got a complete Dell in the boxes that was given to me and three other working boxes just sat there,I've not a clue what to do with them, each has a CPU under or around 1ghz.

I've kept them now for a year or two but as soon as I need the space I'm giving them away.

Likely make either a nice home server box out of those mixed components or a NAS, generally dont need top of the line speed for these devices to work ok.

Well done on the donations, NJ. At least you can see if there is anything useful in that lot. Or make one or two to donate to the needy, if you’re feeling generous, lol. :-D ~ (or a N.A.S., like Halo said.)

Around here noone knows what a dual or quad core is most people here only care if it runs Windows XP and can burn a cd or go on the net. Around here you can sell a 600mhz for $100 heck last year i sold a Dell 2.6ghz for $400 i was not gonna sell it but he offered $400 so i took it. Aslong as i can sell that kind of stuff i will keep it. I looked to see what was in there and there was a board in there with RIMM First time i ever seen RIMM shows how old this board is.

A good place to get rid of old, but usable PCs here used to be the Alberta Computers for Schools program. At one time, they seemed to take anything. Not so much anymore, though.

One of my old schools had their two labs filled with machines from the program, and they were usually more reliable than the few new ones they bought. :-D

Oooh RIMMs now definatly build a PC with those and even as I said a server or NAS as RIMMs are quick, I hve a RIMM based PC still I need to convert to a Windows Home Server as the ram is good, used to be and still is seriously expensive.

RIMMs do need to be installed in exact pairs and if the mobo has 4 rams slots CRIMMs need if all 4 slots are not populated or the PC no booto!

hmmm did not know that the board has 4 slots but only 2 sticks. I knew rimm was quick and cost alot but i never used it before and heard it was just a big failure

Came unstuck with some financial dealings with another company that escapes me at present, due to high cost of the RIMMs it didnt take off in retail market but in business, I still have an Intel GB850 mobo and 1GB (4x256 PC800 RIMMs) around here somewhere and need to dig it out as I would make a great windows home server.
