I have a D-Link DSL-G624T wireless Router which i use to connect my laptop(Dell Inspiron 1501 running windows XP) to the internet and all is working well the problem is my son also has a laptop(Lenovo running windows XP network adaptor Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network connection) which he was able to connect to the internet via the same router previously but since he took his laptop into school his laptop is no longer able to connect to the internet at home. I think the school changed some of the settings in order for him to be able to connect there but now I dont know which settings to change, I have tried to duplicate the settings from one to the other but sons laptop seems to be unable to pick up wireless network even though it is in same room as router

    please help

both laptops have service pack 2

Ok just to be clear is it picking up any signal, if it is getting other signals but not yours this means that your router is not broadcasting a signal

I cannot find your router on D links page, i was tring to look up the specs for it to see if there may be another issue.

I dont think the problem is with the router as my laptop is able to pick up the wireless connection from the router the problem seems to be with sons laptop not picking up wireless connection but it will connect if i use the Ethernet cable

Is the SSID broadcast enabled in the configuration of the router?
Did the school have your son add a wireless application to connect to their network? If so, there could be a conflict between that application and whatever application he was using to connect to your home network.
Also check under wireless adapter properties and see if your network is listed as a network to be connected to. You can move it up in the listings and have it be the preferred network to connect to. (Right click wireless adapter in Network Connections and select Properties, select Internet Protocol and click on Properties button, select Advanced, select Wireless Network tab.)
Alternatively, you could try a System Restore to a date before the school network connection was added. Your son would have to reset the school connection when he returns there.

As far as i know the SSID broadcast is enabled in the configuration of the router as no settings have been changed since the last time the laptop was able to connect.
Dont know if the school added a wireless application to connect to their network or not but there is a connection visible 1394 connection but i have this disabled .
Yes my network is listed as a network to be connected to.
Tried a System Restore to a date before the school network connection was added but I was unable to restore to previous date

try clicking on the wireless icon by the clock> click properties> click wireless networks>then put a check mark in "Use windows to configure my wireless network settings"

when i right click the icon in the taskbar to view available wireless networks i cannot see any but this also happens on my own laptop when it is connected to the internet through the router
