Computer takes 2-3 starts to start up?

I have XP and I switched to Firefox about 2 weeks ago,
Last week or so, when I turn on my computer for the day, it starts up, it's ON, but nothing comes up on the screen?
I'll turn it off, wait, turn it on and usually on the 2nd turn on XP comes up and all is well, it has taken 3 turn ons at least 1x.

what's going on?

 

What Service Pack, any error message, what are your system specs, what version of FF (but don't think it's FF causing unless there was some problem with the install.

I wouldn't rule out a failing power supply in this case, either. I experienced such behavior and decided it might be the power supply (the internal power supply unit inside the computer). I replaced it and the problem stopped.

actually right now,I had to start it twice
everything came up, I logged on to the internet, went to get my mail, read the mail. was working and the cursor stopped and disappeared
then I hit buttons to access my start button and nothing would work
I hit alt-cntrl-delete to restart, wouldnt restart or show the task manager
I turned it off, waited about a minute, turned it off
black screen came up, no cursor or mouse
retart
worked fine, here I am

2. Removed old power supply.
3. Installed new power supply.
