    Hello Everyone, (Im new here)
I recently noticed my step dad had installed a new Anti-Virus onto our Computer (which is a Acer Aspire 3680 Vista Laptop) called SUPERAntiSpyware.

Im am very aware of the rogue anti-virus software that out there and this one looked very suspcious...

Anyways he is not that smart or aware of these rogue programs so i tested this program. First thing i did was open the program.
    - It wanted to update, so i let it.
When the update was done after about 10 seconds of downloading the updates a popup window came up and just listed some update info,

And i was so amazed alright.
This is what the update information said.

    Database Version 3746 - 02-06-2009

    Adware.Vundo Variant 4 Items Added/Updated
    Adware.Vundo/Variant-WinConf 1 Items Added/Updated
    Adware.WinSrc 2 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Downloader-Gen/Temp 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Dropper/Gen-NV 3 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Dropper/Sys-NV 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Dropper/Win-NV 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.MSUser/Hper 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Net-ALO/NMC 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.RootKit/Gen 3 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Unclassified/C00-Installer 2 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Unclassified/C00-WL/E 2 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Unclassified/C00-WL/F 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Unclassified/Helper-DD 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Unclassified/MSTwain32 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Unclassified/MSTwain32-A 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Unclassified/MSXML71 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.Unknown Origin 18 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.WinSecure/A 1 Items Added/Updated
    Trojan.WinSecure/A-NC 1 Items Added/Updated
    Unclassified.Unknown Origin 1 Items Added/Updated

My step dad does know about Trojans and when he saw this he freaked, telling me to remove this rogue anti-virus software a.s.a.p.

I did a little Google searching on some of the update info above.
I searched this "Trojan.RootKit/Gen" because that sounds serious and i got this info.

I red that information, Anyways i tryed to deleting it just by going to the file location of SUPERAntiSpyware and right-click delete...
    Destination Folder Access Denied.

So it wont let me do it that way, So i installed 1 of the two Anti-Spyware programs i have. AVG Free, scanned...found nothing reffering to this.
Tryed installing Avast Pro Edition, it wont let me...

Ever since he installed this, the computers speed and performance are slower,

So now that ive tryed that to my knowlege and i got nothing else i know to try, Thats where i refer to "I Think SUPERAntiSpyware has me trapped"
I searched for help and found this forum, hopefully you people will be able to give me advise or support. Im not that smart with computers either...

Well thanks, ive posted all that i could think of,
    - Regards Warren

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

SUPERAntiSpyware is not a rogue and it is not an antivirus program. It is exactly what the name states..... an antispyware program. We even use it in our standard cleaning procedures and it is quite good which is why we use it.

Update information is only telling you what new detections/changes are being made to the program. It is not telling you anything about problems in your PC. If you want to know if your PC has any malware in it then you have to run a scan.

When you install a program and then decide you don't want the program installed, you don't just start deleting files!!!! You first go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall the program. However you do not need to uninstall it. As stated above it is one of the best antispyware tools available.

Did you install the paid version of SUPERAntiSpyware or only the free trial?

If you have installed multiple antivirus programs (like Avast and AVG) then that is why your PC is slow. Also if you have installed AVG8, it will slow your PC down since it installs too much unnecessary junk. AVG8 also does have an embedded antispyware program.
