Hi I'm trying to fix my fiance's computer. I'll attach the logs. Spybot found nothing. Thanks,

P.S. Something wrong with Avast. It says there is an error. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but it will not uninstall from add/remove; I hit "remove" but it blinks and then remains. I reinstalled but it still says there is an error (Also other programs there is no option to remove in add/remove.).

Also, when MG Tools finished, it said "Could not find C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\procdll.text."

And there was a box up with an "OK" button that said "ProcessDLL.exe Application Error. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application."

    Hi,

    Update:

OK things were starting to work. I got Mozilla working--before it wasn't, only IE, and it would take a million years for each action to work.

I downloaded and ran AVG virus and Exterminator.exe came up. As it was going, I put his new firewall back on (Norton) and then I tried to go on Spybot to Immunize again but I got a message that Mozilla was up--it was not.

Then I tried to use CCleaner and again got the message that it could not run because Mozilla was up--it still was not in use.

So I hit Ctl/Alt/Delete to bring up the Task Manager and Mozilla did not show up on Applications, so I went to the Processes tab--and this is where I think I messed up.

I clicked on firefox and on iexplorer to end the processes and when I did that, the screen went blank white. I restarted the computer and now it's not working. Is it because of spyware or is it because I broke the computer?

I never got a chance to let AVG finish, so Exterminator.exe is stll on there.

Now my fiance thinks his computer was fine (IE was still running at least) and that I messed it up.

    Please help!

This is not your first time here. Thus you should no from all of your previous visits as well as this time from running the READ & RUN ME that you MUST NOT have multiple antivirus programs installed. This is pointed out in the very first instructions in the READ & RUN ME. You already had Norton 360 installed on this PC. What in the world are you thinking by installing Avast? Then if you have also installed AVG8 on top of this......well you have made things even worse.

You need to uninstall ALL antivirus programs now and then reboot. Also uninstall KAPERSKY VIRUS REMOVAL TOOL. And then you will need to run the below to get Norton 360 properly uninstalled.

Please run the below then reboot. After reboot run it one more time.

    Norton Removal Tool (SymNRT)

DO NOT INSTALL another antivirus program yet! First we need to make sure all the previous programs have been properly uninstalled or you will just be starting over again.

After doing the above, goto this link Using MGtools and download the new version of MGtools.exe from the black bold print link in the first sentence. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run MGtools.exe then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file

Also please explain what current malware problems (if any exist) you are having on this PC.

    Hi Chaslang!

    That's right and I didn't.

No, I had AVAST on there for months. When I got to his house a few days ago I saw that my fiance had recently installed Norton himself which I did not recommend. But just the firewall, not the anti-virus.

Avast was not working and would not uninstall via the Add/Remove, so I deleted it and then installed AVG8.

The computer would not allow Kapersky to be uninstalled so I deleted whatever I could of that too. I guess you still see more Kapersky and Avast on there?

OK I am probably going over there again this coming weekend. If my fiance will let me on there again I'll do all you say and tell you what the situation looks like at that time. I may not be able to email you from there but will do so when I get back to my home state. :)

P.S. Last time I couldn't get back online so I don't know if I'll be able to run Norton removal and the new MG Tools. I'll try and do it from Safe Mode with Networking Capabilities.

I don't think it is just the firewall based on what I see. Norton 360 is a full security suite. If it really was just the firewall, it should be uninstalled anyway because it is installing way too many processes and services just to give a firewall. The below is what I see from Avast and Symantec loading at startup
And the below shows what is installed from them:
Not a good idea with all this stuff from Symantec installed.

You implied in one of your last messages that the PC no longer works! You said:
Or did you mean something different?

If the PC does not boot in normal mode or safe mode, there is nothing we can do for you here. You will have to work in the Software Forum to either do the below procedure from Microsoft or you may need to do a Windows Repair.

How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting

"I restarted the computer and now it's not working. Is it because of spyware or is it because I broke the computer?"

Hi, I was referring to when the computer would not open CCleaner or Spybot with the reason that Mozilla was running--even though it wasn't-- and I "ended" the Processes on the Task Manager of Firefox and Iexplorer. When I did this, the screen went blank white and then when I restarted, I could not get either Mozilla or iexplorer (Internet) to open. Was this because of what I did? Or because there is malware?

Please try to write more clearly and be more precise then. When you wrote this:
It clearly means to me and anyone else that the computer no longer works.

Even your last message is hard to understand. The first sentence of the below does not even make sense to me. CCleaner and Spybot have nothing to do with FireFox.
I have no idea about everything that you may or may not have done on your own so I cannot say what happened.

I know that CCleaner and Spybot have nothing to do with Firefox. But that is what the message that came up said.

Actually you do know everything I did before the screen went white because I explained that twice.

Again, I clicked on the Task Manager Processes, on Firefox and then clicked "End" and then on Iexplorer and then clicked "End." Then the screen went white. When I restarted it, the computer was no longer working.

I also described how it was no longer working.

Again, all the icons were not on the screen and I could not get onto the Internet.

So again you are saying the computer is no longer working!!!!!!! I suggest that you post in the Software Forum for help in either doing a System Restore, a Windows Repair, or a Reinstall. Other than that you could try what I already gave you back in message # 8
