Hi all, and thanks in advance for any help. On Feb. 2, I started a new job and inherited the computer from hell. I was hijacked within two minutes of hitting the Internet. Thankfully, six months ago I'd cleaned my husband's computer using chalang's MALWARE REMOVAL GUIDE. I spent the majority of the first day on the job running through the steps. I think in total I got rid of like 40 viruses and malware, with Vundo being the main culprit.

However, three weeks later I still have not resolved a problem with Fun Web Products. It is more of a nuisance, than debilitating, occasionally hijacking me to a different site when I click on a link during a Google search. After extensively reading everything about this stupid program, I've tried every fix under the sun. Super Antispyware tries to quarantine 2 registry keys, but they appear again right after reboot. I finally resorted to Combo Fix. According to the Combo Fix log, the registry key is locked, and my attempts at giving myself permissions has failed.

The question is, how can I either unlock the registry keys, or remove the keys?

PS: I did a search for a similar topic on the forum, and didn't find anything. If this topic has been covered, I apologize.

I'm not a malware expert but from what you are saying you are still infected. I think you may need to post in that section and follow the Read and Run Me First. During this process you have to post a log of each step and if you are still infected they will assist you further in removing the malware.

If I'm mistaken someone will post back and correct me..

As buggabear stated, you need to post in the malware forum and attach the requested logs. We can use ComboFix to unlock and remove the keys. But we need you to do all the scans.

Thanks for the info. I spent the majority of Friday afternoon trying to find a fix, and narrowing the problem down. I was sort of in a hurry and did not notice the Malware forum. My bad.

Also, my understanding is that Fun Web Products is a software program that sometimes comes preloaded on some Dell computers. Gee, isn't that special! NOT!

It doesn't show up in remove programs. GAH... driving me nuts!

Anyway, I'm turning to the Malware side, Obi Wan, and following the other instructions. ;)

    Thanks for the help.

Just as a follow up, I finally killed the problem child. After doing a little more reading on other forums from others who were experiencing a similar problem, I figured out how to unlock the reg. keys with RegAssassin. I then deleted them.

I also ran CWshredder, Gooredfix, and Ccleaner.

Not only did this fix my problem with the Google redirect, I am now able to use safe mode.

So far so good. No more redirects.

    Thanks all.

I would follow the the malware guide, just incase any other nasties are lurking in there, they really know their stuff in there
