not charging

Hi I've got an Acer Aspire laptop but it does not seem to charging up the battery it was running for about 2hrs on mains then I went to use it on battery but it did not even turn on is there any way to check to see if the thing is charging it was ok last time used.I took out the battery and re-seated it turned on to mains for a while but still no charge. Any ideas please

 

See if there is a charge indicator on the battery, was it warm when you took it out? Possibly just an old battery that has seen the end of its usefull life. ed

 

The battery was cold and no indicator looks like I need to spend some money

 

Check the terminals aren't crushed and that they are making true contact and that they are CLEAN, also it would be worth checking the charger with a multi meter to make sure thats working before you go and buy a new bat.

 

The charger must be working ok because the laptop works off the mains but the battery isn't charging

 

Check the terminals to the battery make sure there is no carbon on the ends, if not then "tunered" post is probably your answer
