    Hi,

I'm new here and not sure I've posted this in the right place.

I recently replaced my laptop and desktop to newer computers. I went from XP to Vista 64 bit.

I can connect to every site I have bookmarked except for yuku.com for some reason. It times out. I googled my problem and was able to run/cmd and then I pinged yuku.com and it timed out the 4 times.

I called Belkin support and they had me disable the router firewall and that didn't help and then they suggested I plug the computer directly into the modem and that didn't do the trick either. They said the problem would be with my internet service provider most likely.

I've been reading a lot about MTU. Believe me I'm not a geek or even computer literate hardly at all so trying all this new stuff is greek to me. lol....but I"m trying.

Anyway I did get this window when trying to see MTUs. I have no clue what it mean. Does it mean my router is 1500MTUs and maybe I need to call my cable company and see what MTU they have?

I don't know what else could cause this. Any ideas why I can't access this one particular site? I know others on the site and they are having no problems. The site is up and running fine. It's just me.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Hi

Try clearing temps and cookies and CCleaner is good for this.

Outside chance is that it could be a bad DNS entry in the cache, so to rule this out you can erase the loacl DNS resolver cache, need to click the Start orb and in the Start Search box type cmd, then as it shows in the seach list right click it and choose Run as Administrator to bring up an admin command window and type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter.

    Then try again.

If all other sites are working ok then I wouldnt change the MTU setting until indeed you have asked your cable company what their prefered setting is, but if all other sites are connecting ok, its likely not the MTU setting.

Try as a test an alternative browser say Opera Browser to see if that can connect to that site.

    Thanks Halo,

I did all that you suggested but unfortunately I'm still having the problem.

I have called Belkin and my cable company today and Belkin says since I connected my computer directly into the modem and still can't access the website that it must be a problem with my internet service provider.

When I called Charter, they had me go into the network and change my dns a few different ways and I still couldn't get into the site. Charter said they were able to get connections to it, but it must be an issue with me somewhere as to why I can't access it but it was nothing they could help me with. They wanted me to talk to Belkin for help in resolving it. :cry

I have tried Opera, Firefox and IE but can't get to website on any of them and I have tried on all 3 computers. I was able to get onto the website from all 3 up until about 3 or 4 days ago and all of a sudden I've having this problem. I know other people aren't having any issues and it's just me. http://s162.photobucket.com/albums/t280/diddlydudette/th_1-1.gif

I'm at a loss of what else to try.

    Thanks for the speedy response.

I've been googling and I see where someone suggested getting to the website via guardster.com. I tried and I see yuku.com. I can access it thru the guardster which is I guess where you go to surf anonymously? I've never heard of such a place but at least I know my site is working. I just can't access it normally on the internet. When I do go on the site via Guardster it is very slow going and ads pop up every so often which would drive me nuts but at least I can see the site until I can figure out how to get there normally.

Someone also suggested doing a trace but I can't make sense of it. Maybe someone here can interpret what all this means ...if anything.

Well I got it fixed. Yay!!!

It ended up being the router. I called them back and it was some settings I had to change and all is well now.

Oh well if I hadn't had a problem then I wouldn't have found this site. I now have it bookmarked.

I too am having this problem, only its with a different website. The website is bidfire.com i can access it from school and everywhere else except my own home.. However, this site was working for me a few days ago. I already did a traceroute and a ping, both of which are stating that the site times out. However I have no idea what to with the results. I've even tried resetting my router. I also tried the above mentioned DNS flush cache thing. Still no results. I really am at a lost as to what to do about this.
