I am currently running Vista Home Premium 32bit. 3Gb of Ram. I think my Asus board will allow me to go 64 with another Gb of ram. Am I correct and what are advantages if any?

You can run Vista 64 with your current configuration with no problem.

Thank you for the detailed response of my question. I don't need to go any further as my software, peripherals, and most of the hardware would have to be updated.
For the type of work I do on the computer 32bit will work just fine.
Keep up the great work you and your staff provide and have a great day.

I haven't noticed much improvement, and the main reason why one would upgrade would be the added memory but unless one uses some real high-end apps, there's really no point.

Isn't everything sort of headed towards 64bit, though? I would think it would become more the standard at some point in the near future.

One would have thought that when XP64 came out but it was and still is almost dead. I thought W7 was only going to be 64 bit but of course I'm wrong.
