   I installed MalwareBytes for the first type and now my Sygate firewall is asking me if I want to allow MalwareBytes to access a facebook address when I try to update the program... Is this normal?

   I would suggest you uninstall sygate and get a different firewall. You can choose from these:

   I've been pretty happy with Sygate... Why would you recommend I switch?
   
   Also, do you know the answer to my original question? MalwareBytes updates through a FaceBook URL???

   Sygate is pretty out of date.....and it could be the reason for the false message. So disable Sygate and see if you have the same message when you update MBAM.
