Really energetic fusion band with a didgeridoo!

Guess this is the place to post a music link? Hope it's OK here.

My wife and I went to a concert to hear this band, Thom Jayne and the Nomads, at a local gallery/performance space. We thought they'd be interesting to hear, but they turned out to be DYNAMITE -- inventive, very skillful and professional, and all having a fine time playing together. You can listen to the same encore we heard them do on YouTube here:

When you go to the page stop the music player at the top right of the page and then scroll down the page a bit and look for the video labeled "Thom Jayne and the Nomads -- Also Sprach Zarathustra". Several other videos from the same concert on the page as well as some mp3 cuts from the bands two CD's. Really a fine group, all the more amazing as they don't play together regularly.

Hope some of you enjoy them. Guess I should say this isn't any sort of promotional thing I'm doing -- just really had a great time seeing and hearing them. They'll be performing twice this coming May in East Lansing, Michigan and I'm looking forward to taking some friends along to hear them for the first time.

LOL Eezak, where were you when we had a jazz thread going eh?:p;):) Very nice indeed, got the goosebumps going.:-D I'll be playing these guys for the next little while.:) Thanks for the share man.

I will of course make some comments later as there's several elements of world music going on here, a real world fusion. Don't be shy man, keep on posting eh?;)

Glad you two enjoyed the music. After I posted the link here I went back to the site and listened to Also Sprach Zarathustra 5 or 6 times. For people who have heard of the fine music store Elderly Instruments -- that place is just three blocks away from the Creole Gallery where we heard this group play.

Hope some more people will give this group a listen. Thanks for the encouraging comments. Don't have any other jazz stuff to recommend at the moment, but maybe I'll post a link to some Mike Hearne/South by Southwest folk/country/swing music in a few days.

My musical tastes are all over the map -- classical, singer-songwriter/retro-old country (Hank Williams, Bob Wills)/jazz/ethnic (esp Irish and other Celtic).

If music didn't exist it would be necessary to invent it! Uh, guess that's already been done though. rolleyes

Enthralling. There's something haunting and eerie about the didgeridoo that makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. World music is such an exciting place to be.

@Eeezak I'm basically jazz and blues yet range quite far afield into classical, bluegrass, folk, rock etc. but not country. ;)

Didn't see one labeled Also Sprach Zarathustra on the link for the myspace page you gave. I'll hit YouTube and see what comes up - after i'm done listening to the stuff on the myspace page! ;)

@ sherpaprime I've noticed that sometimes the video titles don't appear when the page loads -- thought maybe it was just a quirk of my machine. If you've watched/listened to all the videos I guess you must have stumbled onto "Also Sprach Zarathustra" already. For those who go to the link and also find they don't see any titles for the videos, "Also Sprach Zarathustra" is the very first video on the left side of the page as you scroll down a bit -- right under the "MySpace url:" label.
