Can you believe some people do this for a living?

I thought it would be cool to start a thread about what you do / have done to make ends meet in your lifetime. I use to run a filling machine for Coca-Cola (as a temp job for about 6 months). We ran 4 production lines for Dasani bottled water, 12 hour shifts. Here's some of the stats, in case you wonder how much water is out there. We had 3 low speed lines, and a high speed line. Don't get me wrong, the high speed line was supposed to do 500,000 bottles of 500 ML (16.9 Fl oz) a shift, but the low speeds regularly did about 340,000 themselves. Some math, that would be 3,040,000 bottles of water a day (2 shifts), or 1520000000 ML (51376000 ounces). To put that in perspective, just the high speed line could fill a tractor trailer with bottled water in 15 minutes. The video here shows a filling machine similar to the one I ran, it rinses a bottle, fills it, then puts a cap on it before sending it to the labeling machine. After that, it goes through a segment that sorts them into lines, to go to the boxing machine. When something would go wrong, say a bottle came through crushed, it wouldn't make it through the capper and would sometimes lodge itself in the track of the machine, sending all the bottles behind it flying, until you shut the machine down, and cleared the debris. We're talking about almost 475 bottles a minute on the slow lines (8 bottles a second) and you're not always right beside the machine. once an hour I had to pull 15 bottles off the moving line to check cap torque, and every 3 hours, to check the chemical make-up of the water. (Dasani water has ozone in it, and for about 3 days will turn purple if you put chlorine in it) the Ozone is gone before it hits the shelf, but it kills anything that might be in it. Anyway, here's that video. I loved that job. the next time you drink a bottle of dasani, check the label, if it says it was made in Milesburg, PA I might have had something to do with it.

Pretty impressive, right? At full speed, they're moving like this.
