Upgrade to DuelCore, possible? attached Everest report

**possible to upgrade, 2 a DuelCore or enough to play some of the Newer PC games**

Hey everyone, i'm not all that computer savvy, so i thought i'd see what you guys thought, i just bought this computer off a friend of mine, he had it pretty screwed up.. but i got it working at least to get an everest report, i wanna know if its possible to upgrade my processor to a duel core, or at least capable of playing some of the newer PC games, such as BioShock and COD4... is it possible

your motherboard socket is LGA 775, but what kind of graphics card do you have?

yep, as long as your motherboard has a LGA775 socket, you can upgrade as far as a 3Ghz quad core! (but those are more expensive)

Latest BIOS on that board will recognize it, I gather?

Northbridge and Southbridge on those boards are basically the same, just name a fish for the specifics...

 

I just got done speaking with HP support, there telling my that the Pins are not correct to be able to upgrade, i would have to install a whole new MoBo, darn... any other suggestions as to what MoBo and Processor would work? or if HP is just pumping me full of smoke...

the pins seem to be compatible, but i think that the issue here is the BIOS driver. the problem is that HP probably never released an BIOS update that allowed for newer processors. it looks as though the maximum processor speed is a 3.4Ghz single core processor
