I have personally used DVDfab and I like it. I have also used DVD-X-Utilities (it's OK) and Extra DVD-Clone (also OK) and I like DVD Fab the best. However, I haven't used any DVD cloning programs in some time since I bought a DVD player that supports DivX/XViD playback. I can now back up my movies as DivX (or XViD) AVI files, and burn at least 5 movies on a regular DVD.

I am wondering the ant.com toolbar says you can download any video from any video site. Is this true is it a good program or a sham? I have only had 256 mb memory and just added another 512 mb to memory and computer slower than ever so don't want to add anything to make it slower. :confused

tmalone1 you should really start your own thread so as to not confuse the original theme of this thread someone might be able to help you with your slow computer and your requested information

coming back to the original question... I use Convert Xto DVD. The program identifies the kind of file you have and convert it (if it needs to be) and burn it to a DVD... Easy and fast.;)

True. ConvertX is great for creating DVDs from other types of video formats, but it isn't designed for (or capable of) copying DVDs.

Uhu, and in that case I copy it to the Hd and then from there I burn it; a little bit of work...

I suggest using DVDFab Platinum which is only $39.99 after the $10 instant rebate/coupon code.

Decryptor is such an unnecessary step...just a waste of time...

If you already have Nero, the Best and fastest Free way is: running DVD43 and using DVD shrink ( DVD43 runs silently and Instantly in the background, just a little smiley face:) in your system tray)(Shrink by default burns using the Nero Burning rom, so one doesnt even need to open Nero:major)

I've used DVDfab free & Beta versions for some things that DVD43 can't...

If I had to buy software I'd go with DVDfab, Nuttin like free stuff though..

I have done this using DVD43 and DVDshrink, and have nero, and burning directly to a disc, the disk is only playable in my laptop. My DVD player will not play it. what I do is save the DVD shrink file to my HD as an ISO file. Then open nero, and burn from there.

Question: Is there a free version of nero I can download for just burning DVD's? I have the trial version, it works fine but I don't need all the stuff that comes with it, just want to burn

    Thanks, Guy

That may be a DVD media problem or compatibility issue
What kind of media are you using not all Notebooks/Players support all types of media
I would also recommend sticking to quality media....
    ______________
Shrink does save the movie/file to your HDD, you have the option to choose where and which file, I'd suggest making a new folder for each movie, save where you like otherwise each time you use shrink the previous movie would be erased
    ____________
there is no free version of Nero, there used to be Trail versions, check Neros web..

I am using fujifilm DVD-R, I bought a whole spool of them, should I use a more expensive type?

Yes, I am using nero's trial version now, but am looking for something more basic and free, I have found imgburn, I might try that.

    thanks, Guy

There are many great free programs for burning CDs/DVDs. You mention you have already found ImgBurn, which is an excellent app, but it only burns image files like ISOs, BINs, NRGs, and the like. Perhaps my favorite full-featured burning app is AShampoo Burning Studio 2009. It's 100% free but requires email registration for full use past 10 days. It will burn anything, even BluRay! Here's some other great freeware burning apps:
    Astroburn
Alcohol 52 (includes virtual drive capabilities)
    BurnAware
. . . many other can be found in the MajorGeeks Data Backup Section
