I think my new hard drive just crapped out!

When I rebooted my system, there is no hard drive recognized.

This is a new build within the last few weeks and everything was fine until I rebooted and now I can't get it to come back to life.

Is there a way to check the hard drive?

 

Try unplugging and reseating the data and power plugins to ensure a good connection.

 

I tried that. I tried to plug that drive into another computer and it was not recognized.

I also tried another hard drive in this comp and all is good.

The drive in question is an SATA and the replacement is an IDE.

I may have gotten a bumb drive?

 

Does your motherboard support SATA? Go to Device Manager and see if any drivers are missing. Will show up as yellow triangles.

 

Everything is brand new and all designed to work together.

I can't even get Windows to open. In the BIOS screen, the hard drive doesn't even register and it tries to boot from the CD drive.

 

Is you hard drive set as the first boot device in your BIOS?

 

It's not even found. I'm going to take it to Micro Center and get it checked out tomorrow.
I just bought it a few weeks ago and it has a 3 year warranty.

 

Update: It was a bad hard drive. MC swapped it out and I'm installing the OS now.

Strange that it worked fine for 1 month almost to the day.
