DVD codec

HI! I've been looking for a DVD playback codec. Yes, I know this codec is included in many, many different codec packs. No, I don't need any codec pack suggestions or recommendations. What I'm looking for is just the DVD playback codec!!! That's it. Nothing less, nothing more. I've done some quick Googling and all I can find is many, many sites plugging their particular favorite pack. Once again: I DO NOT want a full codec pack. I just want the single DVD playback codec. The idea is to get DVD playback without having to install a different media player or a full pack of codecs.

Oh yeah... this would be for Windows XP and Windows Media Player 9 or 10....

Hmmm... I tried the 1st link again on a different PC and it just sat at the "Please wait...." again, but the 2nd link worked OK. As soon as I get a chance to install this codec, I'll post about it's functionality.

Hi everyone, I joined up so that I could offer my thanks for your help. I also recently did a fresh install of XP Pro Sp2. I downloaded the first suggested pack in this thread and installed it but couldn't get it to work. So I uninstalled it and tried the pack suggested by Just_Playin. It's a very easy and quick install and it works perfectly! Many, many thanks!!! You guys are great and I'll be recommending this site to my students.

 

Not to resurrect an old thread here, but this codec does work fine, but it seems that the volume level is VERY low when using this codec. If I playback a DVD using a paid app like WinDVD on the same computer w/o making any volume changes to anything anywhere, the volume is fine. So- if anyone can recommend another DVD-ONLY codec, I'd be very happy. And on another note- the Vista Codec Pack does NOT provide DVD playback support with Windows Media Player.....
