I'd like some opinions as to what card I should replace my old, very expensive G-Force 512mb, 64 bit card with. You get a lot more for your money these days (I'd guess mine is 6 years old maybe). It started making the monitor go off and on, interupting the flow of data and making everthing run realllllllll slooooooow.... like a virus. But it was the fan failure causing at least at first, overheating. I bought a vid card fan kit for it but it still is having problems so I guess the heat damaged some circuts... Dead card.
So, what would you buy? I'm not a gamer, I do occasionally watch movies on demand and I do watch/use utube ect... and I DO like fast loading pages no matter what I'm doing.
Here's a page from egg with the selections I'm thinking of, price wise... but I'd listen to what anyone's got to say about this.

First question: What connection is this computer using? PCI-E or AGP?

If you have PC Express then the Nvida GTX 260 is a spectacular card,it's fast and lots of graphic power.
The only thing i will say is you need a PSU with a bit of grunt 400w is probably the minimum.

This is what I have in my 6 year old computer with only PCI.

    PNY nVidia 8400 GS PCI

It is the best card possible with the PCI architecture.

usafveteran... I went with the one papaduke runs on his machine and that was about what I was out to spend in the first place. For an old machine like mine with an antiquated MB, it doesn't make sense to spend too much for a card right now as soon I suppose, I'll have to get a new MB and build anew.
