HUh we had new virus, why didnt someone wake me up! ;)

I heard it was a new specific twist on this malware and aimed at Mozilla and Firefox users, which is why its not surfaced yet, plus it will be dormant for a month after infection, then will unleash its destructive powers, bit like kryptonite or Ronald McDonald :) *grin*

Agree with Augie in update update udpate, too many folk have decided for some reason, maybe its baa baa black sheep mentality to "hate" Microsoft, wow they evil empire of sin and nastynastyness and not trust them and their updates, sadly what they do is in fact to protect us as much as possible and fix what is a huge OS (all OSes are huge and have holes the size of gigantimus swiss cheese, no matter what company they are from), plus the usual self protection and duty of care we need in our surfing and we will be as safe as you can be from general malware, the directed stuff and unsafe surfing and your at risk.

Think that the malware writing folk and many of our fastidious news agencies drummed up over the top interest in this like the Y2K bug! Likely in the malware writers side to fool many into installing some of the junk and doubious antivirus applications in say Vista Antivirus 2008/9 etc to pray on the panic reaction, for a later malware attack or zombie attack in a DDoS attack on some site.

Totally agree with your comments Digitalocksmith, it is in any software companies interests to nail the security down as much as possible, sadly there are always those holes in an application be it OS or general tools, that while not immediatly evident that a gap in security exists, there is always the possability of potential exploits, having said that many zero day exploits that are mentioned are just theories and many dont make it into the wild, but they do get news and scare folk.

User duty of care in securing their own PC is crucial in this day and age of internet shopping and banking, and great steps to achive a majority of this is in Chas's great guide here How to Protect yourself from malware!

64bit cheese, now theres a new concept, Microsoft will go with convention and have round holes and Mozilla will throw caution to the wind and go with square holes, while Apple's one will be way too expensive and only oil barons and ex-bankers will be able to aford them... will look good though, Google will slap a toolbar on it and call it a beta for 10yrs.

I know must be a beta record! was IIRC only last year that they opened registrations up to all, from being invite only. Just checked my main Gmail account and have a sent email dated 09/05/04 (UK dating DMY) need to clear out the old emails as I seem to be collecting them up.

    Welcome back Cman.
I think the reason MS gets so many attack is that they are the biggest producer and the malware geeks like to attack MS just so that in their own little world they feel that they have beaten the best.

They sit in their dark places and try to devise ways to f*** up other peoples PCs just as the mindless thugs beat up kids and old folk or scratch new cars( they are one sandwich short of a picnic) the only difference is that PC malware distributors have had some sort of education?
    which makes them more reprehensible.

I would have thought you, of all people, would know that Mozilla will go with fox shaped holes! :-D Or maybe fox holes...
