Cant get any READ/RUN 1st steps done

    I have had problems on other computers before, and by following the Read & Run me first steps, have always been able to correct the problems. However......

    This time I am trying to fix a computer that had not been kept up to date for a couple years. Finally got XP sp3 update to run today, and managed to get all the recommended software/tools loaded.

    I just cant get anything to run all the way through. No matter what app I try and in either the users log on or admin logon in both normal and safe mode, the tool/app ends up freezing along with the whole computer at some point. The best I got was spybot which went about 75% through before the computer seized. I even tried unchecking the "Kernel" options on SAS and that didnt work either.

    Dont know what to do. As I speak the Combofix is hanging at stage31 and at least the computer hasnt forzen, but it does not seem to be doing anything after about an hour of just sitting there.

    Note: It is not really a good idea to perform a service pack update if a PC is infected. This can result many problems due to failed or corrupted updating.

    It is possible that you don't have malware problems but rather have problems with Windows itself. However, as requested in the READ & RUN ME instructions, you need to try to run ALL steps and attach the logs that you are able to get. The instructions state the below
