Hiya G33ks!! I'd really like to know more about these DNS server addresses. Or is it IP addresses of the DNS servers.

My biggest gripe with Open DNS is that they appear to proxy everything. For example, if I do an NSLOOKUP of Google against 4.2.2.2, the name resolves to "74.125.67.100, 209.85.171.100, 74.125.45.100" -- Google's IP addresses. If I do an NSLOOKUP of Google against 208.67.222.222 (OpenDNS), it resolves to 208.69.32.132 -- an IP address belonging to Open DNS.

To address the original question (at least part of it), the entire 4.0.0.0/8 class A appears to be owned by Level 3 Communications. The 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 public DNS servers appear to be owned by GTEI.net, which is registered by MarkMonitor.com. The registrant appears to be Verizon. (Based upon a WHOIS of the domain.)
