Ok. I have WSUS 3.0 installed. This is my first time ever using this program or any program like it. It did the initial synchronization just fine, but no computers are showing up in the console.

I checked the event log and I have a few different things coming up in there:

Warning - WSUS - Clients - no client computers contacting server.

    Error - WSUS - None - delete file %appdata%\microsoft\MMC

Warning - WSUS - None - do not have sufficient permissions for this operation.

Error - WSUS - Core - the server is failing to download some updates

Error - WSUS - Synchronization - Content file download failed. Reason: The requested URL does not exist on the server. Source File: /msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/windowinstaller-kb893803-v2-x86_830994754ba721add8a13bd0266d2e092f21cab0.exe Destination file: c:\\WSUS\WSUSContent\B0\830994754BA721ADD8A13BD0266D2E092F21CAB0.exe

Error - WSUS - Core - The last catalog synchronization attempt was unsuccessful.

Any help with any of this would be greatly appreciated!

Spiceworks is an IT tool used for IT tickets and a whole bunch of other stuff. But why im posting it is the help forum/community is probably close to 98% Sysadmins/netadmins who have a huge amount of knowledge to help fellow IT professionals with problems we might have. Majorgeeks is, of course, a great site to get and offer help for mostly home users, but when we have certain server related problems, im sorry to say MGs is rather limited. It might be worth it for you to check it out. I use it all the time for getting help with technical issues like youre having now that someone who doesnt work with this kind of thing might not know how to answer. This tool isnt geared for home users as it really is an IT professionals help desk. Experts-exchange forum is great too, but there is a monthly fee for that. Spiceworks is a free download. Id really recommend checking into it just as another option to get help when you need it.

Thank you very much for the great link! I had no idea that this even existed! I had always just used MG when it was a hobby, so naturally, I just kind of stuck around here for my IT problems with work too. You are right though, MG does not seem to be geared much at the IT professional. Thanks again for the awesome link!

MGs is still a great place to be. The community is awesome and the knowledge most people have around here is very high. But when we need professional help, cant go wrong asking other professionals who have been in the field, some for over 20 years, who have dealt with problems we face before and who are very willing to offer their help. And youre welcome. I figured you could use another help line from seeing a couple of your posts about WSUS issues.

Just installed the software and got all signed up. I think that I am really going to like spiceworks.com!
