And for some reason the other day my AVG was saying that I need to upgrade to another version and I just found the message funny. So I un-installed it and like a genius didn't re-install it for a few days. Today I just re-installed it and my system found like 60 viruses and I should be able to get rid of all of them, but I had 2 questions for the experts first. My AVG program says remove selected infections or remove all unhealed infections. Does it matter which 1 I click on? I just want to get rid of all the viruses then I'm going to run HiJack this and see if anything else is wrong with my system and posted on here. My second question is how could from what website did I get the virus from? because I dont' check e-mails on here and I just go to websites and my daughter goes to myspace website etc. Is this even possible? I just also noticed that when I open a new Internet Explorer window AVG open up saying a Resident Shield Alert. Accessed file is infected Threat Detected!. Filename c:\windows\system32\BASSM.dll

Threat Name: Trojan horse BackDoor.Generic11.HXH Deted on open.

Details Say: Process name: c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplorer.exe Process ID: 3252 this doesn't sound good lol...

    thanks.

    Remove all unhealed infections.

If you post a HijackThis log here, it will be deleted. HijackThis is not a malware scanner. If you need help with malware, you must follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide sticky thread.

How are we supposed to know that? Only you and your family know where you surf, what you dowload and what you click on. We don't even know if you really had an infection which is why you need to run the cleaning procedure. AVG has lots of false detection issues.

    Yes.

What would be a better virus program then AVG... I also use Spyware Blaster & Spybot are these good? Anything else I should have on my computer or just follow that link you posted?

What I meant to say was is there away once my system detects the virus that I run a program on it and it would tell me where the virus was downloaded from is that possible?

Are you referring to paid programs or free programs. But do note that ALL programs (even paid ones) have issues with false positives, but some just have more than others. And some are more of a resource hog than others.

SpywareBlaster provides not active realtime protection. It just adds some protection into you registry to block various active-x scripts. Spybot also provides no active realtime protection unless you use its Teatimer feature which we don't really care for since it has also been troublesome and is not as effective as we would like it to be. So while it is good to have Spyware Blaster installed and protection enabled, and also to have Spybot installed with the SDhelper and Immunization enabled, you need a realtime antispyware blocking tool. No!
