Best long-term anti-keylogger protection software?

Please forgive me if this is in the wrong forum!

I recently had my Steam account hijacked, so I downloaded and ran Anti-Keylogger (which is hosted on majorgeeks) and it found that some unsigned bluetooth drivers which i'd installed like a blithering idiot seemed to have some keylogger or other attached. A few uninstalls and deletions, virus and spyware scans, and password changes later and everything is good as new. (I THINK. I'm not sure. Well, I'm pretty sure. But I'm far from an expert.)

However, I'd really like to stop this from happening again - thankfully whoever hijacked my account didn't do anything with it (presumably they were waiting to sell it or something) but if my paypal gets hijacked or something that'd be a whole other level of hurt.

Anyway, Anti-Keylogger, much as I love it, is a not-modest-at-all $60 to register, and I can't seem to find any feedback (good OR bad) about it on the ol' internets. The fact that it was hosted on Majorgeeks leads me to believe it's legit, but the last thing I want is to shell out $60 for a program when there's another one that works better (or that does the same thing for a much cheaper price/for free.)

Does anyone have any thoughts on Anti-Keylogger, or recommendations for alternative software?

I would think that any combo of the programs in the malware removal guide:
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407
would do ok...specifically malwarebytes, and super antispy, along with your fav antivirus program...keep in mind its really only good to have 1 realtime program, and a couple others that you have for on-demand scanning.

How about AVG and Spybot Search & Destroy on resident? (The latter in paranoid mode with browser immunisation active) That's how I've got things set up right now. Sound okay?

Edit: Obviously, I was too dumb to have set this up BEFORE this whole keylogger incident. Just saying.

as long as you dont have any problems with spybot (some have complained about the tea timer running)

Someone just pointed me to WinPatrol, which is very good real time protection.
Here's the info on keylogging protection
    http://billpstudios.blogspot.com/2008/01/winpatrol-14-enhances-keylogging.html

The program is free. Twice he has gotten offers about accepting money to bundle something with his program and twice he has refused to do so. If you grab this program, you are not getting addons that you don't want.

Thank you very much! This sounds like a great bit of kit, and the guy who makes it seems like a very upstanding person.

One thing before I install - should I disable Spybot S&D Resident Protection for fears of a clash between the two, or would you say they'll run side-by-side quite happily?

That I can't answer because I do not run either program.
I'd say first make a restore point before you install WinPatrol. Keep Spybot running. If you notice weirdness, go back to the restore point but this time disable Spybot and install WinPatrol without Spybot enabled.

I was also considering WinPatrol, because of the keylogger.. Before I do.. did you have to disable Spybot as I currently use this. Would be useful to post for others considering the same thing.
