Lately, anything I click on takes 10-30 sec before page appears. I have updated virus protection and spyware.
I never have understood how you know what to eliminate on your start menu...so many things that can't be identified by the little amount displayed.
I have done some removal but, nothing I am not sure of.
Any advice?

That sounds as if something is keeping your CPU rather busy. Right click on an empty area of the taskbar and click on Task Manager. Click the Processes tab and examine the numbers in the CPU column. Other than System Idle Process, is there anything showing a high value? If so, let us know what it is.

 

Your PC could just be bogged down with junk.

My personal Startup list is just 5 items.
Firewall
AV
3 antispyware programs (little overkill)

Anything else is pretty much non-essential and will start when needed.

 

How much RAM is installed?
Some programs and browsers can take a goo chunk, so others have a slow period until some memory is turned loose by other programs.
Also depends on location of site visiting and route signal travels.

I don't find AVG and I don't have System Mechanic. I had it for a year and removed it.

 

I can see all kinds of stuff on Belarc Advisor.(which shows everything on this computer)..want any of that?

 

Are any of these free or do they just run a free scan and then want to you to buy to continue?

No. It was difficult for me to follow all the posts.
I used the AVG removal tool.
