    heh...yay Kes!

Mine is only neat 'cause I now have a drawer for it. It used to all be piled in a big basket and I could never find anything. LOL

Oh, it is ON! *runs to get all the make-up and spread it on kitchen counter for photo-op*

Okay, husband says I must help with repainting the spare bedroom. But just you wait... there will be photos! Muahaha! LOL

Yay! I got out of repainting, since we're both exhausted. :celebrate

So I lined it all up in the kitchen counter, climbed a chair and took a picture from above, since that seemed the easiest way to get it all. Missing from this picture is a concealer, a lipliner and an eyepencil, several lip balms, the compact in my purse and the foundation jars and bronzer that I haven't opened yet. Only stuff that actually see fairly regular use got to be in the picture. And it's spread out because the makeup family lives in several drawers. :)

Sorry about the flash glare. I did my best, but some of that packaging is just really shiny...

Thank you for posting about the under eye circles!!! I work full time, and take night classes at the University, so I have a lot of late nights, and don't sleep enough. I had the same situation where I thought I had smeared eyeliner, or mascara, but it was just my dark circles. :-o I'll have to try that orange lipstick trick. I knew about the Physician's Forumula green makeup for any rendess as my mom suffers from some Rosaeca on her face.

And Laura, you have WAY more make up than I do...But I do see you have the same brand of glasses as me. I recognize that case!! :p (I always buy her glasses. ;))

You all put my makeup stash to shame... :-o

I use their yellow concealer to hide my dark circles, rather than orange lipstick, since I couldn't find any at my local drugstore. It works really really well, so if you like that brand, just get that one.

It's the concealer next too the mascara in my picture. :) I know, it looks normal from this distance, but it's really yellow when you first apply it.

hahaha...Mims! You love yourself some lipgloss, don't you. LOL

Gotta love Mabeline great lash mascara. :)

My weakness is eyeshadow. Two of those sections in my drawer are full of them.

I did switch to L'OREAL and it stays soft.

Ever notice some of them smell like shoe polish? Or do people use shoe polish any more?

I think that's one of the stupidest ideas I've ever seen, nearly every single one I've seen has been botched up and done too high meaning they have to add huge amounts of make up to cover it up and try and look normal.

I don't but two of my mom's friends have done their eyebrows because one is a redhead and one is a blond and both of their eyebrows have faded to nothing.

    It actually looks good.

:confused Too high? What do you mean?

I would never tattoo on makeup. Then I would be stuck with that single color forever! Variety is the spice of of life, and the joy of makeup :)

There is no such thing as too much lipgloss! :-D

I actually don't use that mascara normally, I prefer their Lash Secrets (the one with the really tiny brush), but when Walgreens sells them in duo packs for $3, I couldn't resist grabbing one. It's the only mascara brand I use, mainly because it's the only remover I have found that won't trigger my eczema.

Slight change of subject, but I have been considering getting my hands henna'd :-D

    http://www.dustandrust.com/images/henna_hands.jpg

Also, speaking of tattoing makeup on... I remember being in Liverpool in 2000 and I got my first tattoo (NOT makeup BTW) the young man who did my tattoo had a wife three times his age who had her eyebrows tattoed on, and oh boy did it look all kinds a wrong! (Laura.. I am NOT implying that your friends eyebrows look bad, just that this woman's did LOL)

I am a redhead as many of ya know and went to the makeup parlour once or whatever you call it, and tried to get my eyebrows dyed... it was just a waste of bloody money though as the dye wouldn't take... so I use my trusty eyebrow pencil just to define them now a little...

I think henna is cool. I'd try it. :)

k...as far as eyebrows... I have no idea if you have this product over there, but Anastasia is awesome for eyebrows. I actually have decent eyebrows, so I use the tinted gel. It gives them a little bit of color (you try to match) and puts a gel in to hold them in place.

L'oreal lash out is by far the best mascara I have ever used and have been using it for over 20 years now. I used to use maybelline great lash as it happened to be the most popular brand at the time. I did try it again a few years ago and does not even come close to the effect I get with L'oreal. Not bashing maybelline as I do use some of their products but I have to say if you want your lashes to look longer and fuller L'oreal is the way to go. Also, it is not waterproof so you do not need a jack hammer to take it off....:)

  23. LauraR

LauraR MajorGeeks Super-Duper Administrator Staff Member

hmmm...I may need to try that. My mabelline smears too much after a while, unless I use the waterproof.

  24. Mimsy

Mimsy Superior Imperial Queen of the MG Games Forum

Waterproof is all I ever use. I grew up in a climate where you get snow in your eyelashes half the year. :)

I just use Maybelline's mascara remover, a cotton pad, and a few seconds on each eye, no other effort required to remove it. I can't stand non-waterproof. They all smear, all of them :LOL

  25. KathyM

    KathyM Master Sergeant

That is one of the things that I love about L'oreal - it doesn't smear....even when I am lazy and go to sleep with my mascara on....I could wear it out in public in the morning :)

Thankfully they didn't tattoo make up when I was young. At one point I wore my brows like Spock on Star Trek :-o
I used to shave them it was so unpleasant to pluck being in a car accident (while pregnant). So plucking would shoot the pain to the top of my head.
Bangs were useful to me also.

You know it might have been the water proof mascara that hardened. I use baby oil to remove mine.

Why am I still in this conversation?:-D Dark Lip liner that's tattooed on too high over the lips or eye liner that's tattooed on too high over the eyes ,there have been shows on about cosmetic surgery from hell.

As far as I know it permanent, well as permanent as a tattoo is.

I just spent $9 bucks on mascara because I ran out of my favorite kind and I cant find it anywhere so I figured I would try this one.. Its so not even worth the money.. I feel so cheated..

  32. LauraR

LauraR MajorGeeks Super-Duper Administrator Staff Member

Mascara is something I've never felt like it's worth paying more than $5-6 for. Which mascara do you use? I may try the L'oreal. I think I may just want something other than Mabelline.

Eyeshadow, on the other hand, I can tell the difference in the better ones. They just go on much better...lol, kinda like my art pastels...they blend better and everything.

Me too and I was using Rimmel mascara (about $5) and it was the BEST but I ran out and no stores really sell Rimmel cosmetics around here so, I used to use Maybelline Great Lash all the time (which is about $4) but it didnt work for me this time (I have really light, short lashes). So, I thought maybe if I spend a little more money I could find decent mascara (so makes it look like I actually have eyelashes LOL) I bought Cover Girl Lash Blast Hydrofuge, its supposed to make them look long and full but it did not fulfill its promise.

Not only do they go on better, they stay on better.

I got my new brushes today! A 13-piece kit, and a big badger brush. I will wash them tonight and hopefully be able to use them tomorrow. :)

Wait! You wash new brushes too? Wow, do I feel dirty. :(;)

I'll have to bookmark that site.

  37. Mimsy

Mimsy Superior Imperial Queen of the MG Games Forum

Well, yes... they're going to touch my face, and I don't know where they've been. Imagine all the fingers that have touched them...! Ew.

Speaking of ew, the badger brush is real badger hairs. So when it's wet, it smells like wet fur. :(

They sent a free eyeshadow sample with the brushes, and WOW! it has so much pigment and rich color I'm almost in shock. A pity it's pink, since I don't use that at all, but I may have to make an exception. It is ridiculously full of color and shimmer, and just looking at the powder in its little jar makes my fingers itch to play with it.

Oh, by the way, I think that site knows your weakness... look what they're selling, for just $22... ;)

can't wear any makeup :( at least not foundation or powder until my face has cleared up :cry

Ewwwww on the wet fur smell!

Well, I've only washed my foundation brush and you've shamed me into washing the others.

on a sidenote....OMG! Mims, you are such an enabler. :-D Thinking I may buy that set. Even if I don't use them all it's a great price.

@kes....you should not use alcohol on your face! Go see a dermatologist and I'm sure they'll recommend something, but I would try some mild moisturizing wash and a sensitive skin moisturizer.

I didn't know that. :( I wondered why my face went all red afterwards and felt so sore :eek I will definately be asking my dr about a possible referral to a dermo if he cannot help. Thanks Laura:)

yeah...it's way too harsh and drying for the sensitive skin on your face. You may find that if you stop using them, you'll see a big improvement just from that. :)

Mimsy Superior Imperial Queen of the MG Games Forum

I know, I'm horrible.. LOL I'll let you know what I think of the sample they sent me, I plan to wear it today.

The stronger the alcohol, the more it will actually damage cells, especially for sensitive skin that is already upset by having rash or acne or anything else wrong with it. Poor cells. :(

Oh, and seconding Laura's suggestion to use a very mild cleanser and moisturizer. The water and rubbing in itself can be bad enough for sensitive skin. Because of my eczema, I can only use Cetaphil on my face. If you have that in the UK, I highly recommend it, if not, something similar in concept and formula. Or of you get that referral to a dermatologist, ask what they recommend.

As if that would be why we do it :p
