Ok - we had a 50-1 shot win the Derby.....who do you think will win the Preakness?? Since I am going to be there :hyper I am soooo excited!!!! I will be spending tomorrow looking at the racing form. The filly Rachel Alexandra did make it into the race and she is the only filly. So far I am going to go with:

    Big Drama
    Pioneer of the Nile
    Rachel Alexandra

Might change after I look at the racing form :-D

Good morning!! Well, I had the absolute best time at Pimlico for the Preakness yesterday! I actually won some races :) and came home with $$ in my pocket:-D

Rachel Alexandra ran an incredible race.....it was so exciting to see the 2nd leg of the triple crown in person!! I have some pretty cool pics that I will post later. I did play her in an exacta but unfortunately I did not put her with Mine that Bird....:cry Oh well.....

My hubby and I as well as our friend Steve had decided that we are going to make this a yearly trip. We have already decided what section of the grandstand that we want and when the tickets are available (Oct 18th) we will be able to get the ones we want!

On to the Belmont now!!!! :)

US betting beats me. What's an exacta? A show is something you watch at the theatre. Baseball is a sport where a gadge throws a ball and another gadge hits it with a piece of wood.
    A beard is anyone's guess. ;)

    PS Well done on winning.

Hey JOTS!! There are 3 types of exacta bets; the straight exacta, the exacta box, and the exacta wheel. In a straight exacta you are picking the first and second place horses in a race and they must finish in exactly that order. An example of a straight exacta bet would be a $2 exacta ( 5-7). This means that the 5 horse must finish first and the 7 horse must finish second. Any other outcome makes that bet a loser. In the Exacta box you are covering both combinations, a $2 exacta box (5-7) would be a winner if the 5 finished first and the 7 second, or vice-versa, the 7 wins and the 5 places. When you make a $2 exacta box with 2 horses you are really betting $4: a $2 (5-7) and a $2 (7-5). You can box as many horses as you would like in an exacta, and the price of the bet will rise accordingly. The more horses you cover in your exacta box, the more likely you are to hit your exacta but the payoff may not cover the cost of the bet.

I actually love betting exacta's!! Hope this explains it!!

Thank you for the reply, K. We have that bet here. We call it a forecast. Same principle.
When it comes to betting on the horses I've got all the luck in the world. All of it bad.
    I'm better at the football.

    You're welcome.

Oooooooh. No, you call it soccer over there. I'm on about proper football, with a spherical ball. And a bunch of overpaid Marys playing it.
Thanks. It's easier to forecast a football result than it is to forecast a horse race.

No, America needs an English dictionary. Full stop. :p

Don't get me wrong....I love Professional football and try to watch as many games as I can during the season.....BUT give me a horse race and I am so in my element!! Being a former owner, along with working for the racetrack for a total of 15 yrs I have to say I have been hooked for a long time:)

Good drama, this year's circuit. Mind That Bird could really create a buzz with a Belmont win. Watching in hi def is great entertainment too.
