    1) SUPERantispyware
    2) Malwarebytes' Antimalware

Cannot decide which one is my favorite as both of them are super.

Malwarebytes scans FAST and that's a big PLUS++ so that's why I voted for it.

Same as oma - in that order.

  4. plastidust

Spyware Terminator since it has HIPS

Also use Super Anti Spyware, MalwareBytes Antimalware.

    Where's Spy Sweeper? :( I love it.

    Voted for SuperAntiSpyware.
Also use MalwareBytes, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, RogueRemover, and WinPatrol.

RogueRemover is not necessary anymore. It's been integrated into Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware so you're actually running it twice. The product has been discontinued and can no longer be downloaded from Malwarebytes' homepage...

    For real?
Had it for quite a while and hadn't heard.
    Fastest scanner I've seen.

I use the full active-real-time-protection version of MalwareBytes and couldn't be happier with it. I haven't used the full version of SuperAntiSpyware, but I really like it's detection and removal abilities. Spyware Terminator has good real-time protection and it's free. But my vote went to MalwareBytes :-D

    [dlb]

(BTW- I liked SpySweeper a lot back around version 4; lately it seems to have gone the way of Norton and McAfee, obtrusive, bloated, and resource hungry; but this is just my opinion ;) )

    ;)

    1) I put my real-time blocker first - Comodo's BOClean
    2) Then I run the scanners - SAS & MBAM... in that order --- as they both find different things.

Those three keep things nice and tidy for me.

Yes, for real. Here's Mr. Malwarebytes' himself:
We discontinued it because rogue products were becoming more aggressive and the product just did not have a strong framework behind it. The product will always exist on the Internet and you can always grab a copy to keep for yourself. However, we will only be updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from now on, which we built to handle even the toughest and wimpiest rogue applications.

    Hope that clears it up!
And if you purchased a pro version of RougeRemover:

we can offer a free license key for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware or a complete refund, customer choice. Please contact support and we will take care of it.
The source is their own forum and Marcin. http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10344

That's not fair. I'd like to vote for Avira Premium Security Suite, then. :-D

Really a toss for me between, SAS and MBAM, chose MBAM for the quicker scan. I use the free versions. Also use SpywareBlaster and ComodoBoclean.

    Cheers..

spyware terminator for me, oodles of goodies in it,

i also have spywareblaster and spybot - all three on my w2k and xp,
been using them for quite a while now with no problems

In this order for me as well. I barely even use my corporate edition of Symantec AV except for quick remote scans from the admin console. Just have SuperAnti and MWB on all my computers. If Symantec picks up something, i'll rescan with SAS and MWB.

This is a very hard poll to narrow down to one app, I think a combination of spyware apps are the best way to go. While I also was going to vote for Spyware Terminator (for it's real time shield), I voted for SpyBot. SpyBot's immunization features, as well as it's host file and IE locking features bolster the effectiveness of every other security app I have.

I have to say that MalwareByte's scanning is more effective than the other two, and I find myself using Spyware Terminator only for it's real time shield, SpyBot for immunizations and monthly scanning, and MalwareBytes for weekly scanning.

Windows Defender as its installed already and I use the best antispyware application around, my brain and safe surfing, but would use Superantispyware if I needed a 2nd opinion.

If I could only have one, I'd use malwarebytes. Since we can use several I use AVG (no longer just an antivirus), Superantispyware and SpywareBlaster with my malwarebytes.
One computer is running VIPRE instead of AVG but it too has the other three programs.

    In no particular order:
    SpywareBlaster
    Spybot S&D
    MBAM

    Plus AVG
    Sometimes Ad-Aware (just for scans)
Sometimes I'll use SAS (just for scans)

I have portable versions of Ad-Aware, SAS, & a few others, so I can run them at any time without having to install/uninstall them.

Yes... if you do some searching in our Malware Forum -- you'll see our comments on the effectiveness of Ad-Aware on removing present- day malware > both MBAM & SAS are much much better tools.

As I got my new laptop I had a trial for Norton Internet Security which includes Anti-spyware. I used to hate Norton, but heard they managed to bring in major improvement in their 2009 edition, and I actually like it, and most probably gonna buy it!

Anyone else tried Norton Internet Security 2009 ?

Before i was a casualty of the economic situation ,I had a subscription for webroot's spysweeper with anti-virus for about three years, which was by far the most effective security software that i ever used,I currently use microsofts Defender(with little confidence) , mainly for the real time "protection" with avast AV and spywareblaster,I also have SAS (freeware version) and spybot for scanning only.

well i know we all herd the things about mcafee being a resorce hogg but ive used it for like 8 years now and not had the first problem, not the first virus, spyware, adaware,or any thing for that matter, and if sacrificeing some resorces is what it takes to be protected than thats what ill do. i also love the ccleaner that is a definate must for all computers! and the mcafee siteadvisor as well. but to be honest i cant tell that its a resorce hog on any of my 2 laptops or my 8 pcs.:major
