Recreate User Home Folders on different share SBS 2003

Hello,

I've added a new Terastation Pro II NAS to our network and I've got it talking to AD for user authentication and group security settings, etc.

All of the users' home folders are currently on a share on the server and I want to recreate the folder names (same as user names) on the new share on the TeraStation and then manually move the files over. Is this possible?

Also, it would be nice to automatically create a new user home folder for new users on the TS but I've already tried naming the drive share (i.e. \\terastation\Users\%username%) and it doesn't do anything.

Yes, that is possible. Simply create the directories on your NAS device under say "home" (home\tjones) and then copy files from your server for tjones to your nas device. Don't forget to change the local path for the user to the new folder on the nas device.

You should be able to automatically create the directory for a new user by putting \\terastation\home\%username% in the local path.

 

Copying works fine thanks! I was really looking for a solution to remap the folders I guess you could say, but drag and drop is all good.

You can. Under the user profile in active directory you can change the local path.
