    Win XP Media

Having some problems with Adobe flashplayer 10,as am being constantly prompted to download but programme will NOT download/install.

Have been to Adobe site and carried out their instructions, but the uninstaller
software they ask you to download in order to uninstall all traces of past Adobe players although it downloads OK,when it is run freezes at 80%

Adobe support are not approachable on all aspects of this problem.

I have removed all traces of adobe except adobe acrobat.....any assistance with this mind boggling irritating problem would be appreciated:confused

    Hi Caskin

When trying to uninstall Flashplayer do you have all the browser windows closed? if you have Spybot installed, disable it as it can block references in the registry from being added or removed, thus could hinder the uninstall process.

Try running the Adobe uninstaller tool from Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and see if that helps remove Flash.

    Also try Revo Uninstaller

Hi All programmes were disabled....I did attempt to run Adobe uninstaller in safe mode but message appeared "Windows installer will not work in safe mode"

I assume that means it cound not run Adobe uninstaller??

The only active virus control etc running is Zone alarm security suite?

The only place any idication of Adobe flashplayer 10 appears on my pC is in my control panel but without any kb volume,it does not appear in any folders??

Hi I never did totally sort the problem, but what I did do was to download FLASHPLAYER 9 which works just as well and carries Out all the functions being asked from flashplayer 10,so try that and it might save you a lot of heartache:wave

whoa, I thought I was the only one with this problem, apparently flash player has been naughty. lol well here's my story. I noticed the problem first when my music player on myspace won't work, then I go to facebook same thing it says I need to update my current flash player. But when I check, I do have the current version of flash. And youtube videos still worked. And so I tried to uninstall and reinstall. Oh by the way, I uninstalled it by just deleting on control panel add/remove programs. I don't know it that's a problem. But anyway, everytime I try to reinstall it, a window pops up with these words "In order to use a proxy, please enter the following data and ensure that you are connected to the Internet" then there are boxes so you can type in the address and port. But I don't even use a proxy server.

Even before this I tried to upgrade to the latest version of explorer and firefox, I had problems installing those too. And it's saying something about a firewall. I removed my windows firewall and lowered my security settings for explorer and firefox. I tried to remove my old Norton but its asking for a password, I already tried symantec and its invalid.

Now I'm just thinking I have a hijacker. This sucks.

So now I'm completely lost, please someone help :?

:cryThe problem is widespread just go to Adobe site and note all the possible causes and fixes!!
But if you think you have a hijacker, download for free "ATF cleaner" and select all and run.
Download "Malwarebytes" free,do a full scan and be patient.
also download "superantispyware" also free and do a full scan again be patient, they will not harm your pC but I guarantee they will find infections!!Finally download ESET ONLINE SCANNER again free do a full scan ,then you can guarantee you have a clean PC...let me know how you get on and good luck:wave

Finished scanning and followed steps on adobe website, still the same problem. When I try to install it will ask for proxy information. :(

Glad you got it to work..Norton is notorious for conflicting with systems. You would be best removing and use AVG free just as good, but no hassle.

You didint state if you found any infections with your scans?

Incidentally browserspy.dk/proxy.php will indictae if you using a proxy????

If I helped would you leave "Thanks":wave:wave

Superantispyware found some tracking cookies but that's about it, I also ran Hijack this and it was clean. So it was definitely Norton.

Thanks for the scans! Great for future reference

Glad I could help...but do get rid of Norton,(although it can be difficult to totally unistall as it uses so much of your system files to operate).

Download "AVG FREE" its better than Norton, fool proof and FREE!!:wave
