    Hi tonyhale

Yep, give it a try - not really that scary and this advice comes from a reformed IE user. :-D - easy to install heaps of additions to it - all in all my experience with FF has been totally positive.

There is no problem in installing multiple browser on your computer like firefox, opera, google Chrome, Safari and so on. I have all that in my computer. I use whatever browser I want. Opera and Firefox seems to be faster than IE.

I run IE and Firefox. No problems. And I use firefox for most stuff. Very fast download and easy to use..

I switched to FF several years ago and have never looked back. I still have IE but very seldom use it. I find FF to be faster and according to MG's, it's more secure.

I personally prefer the Opera browser. Way safer and faster than IE.
FF is another good one,but not my choice.

You will be safer surfing. Be sure to keep IE patched even if you do not use it simply because it is so closely entwined with windows.

I have used many browsers and some seem better to use than others. Here is my recommendation in browsers to use.

Opera 10 - good browser, quite fast, better for windows platform

Firefox 3.5 - good browser, very fast, works well on windows but does take quite a bit of memory.

Safari 4 beta - good browser, lightning fast, not many websites work though as only in beta

IE 8 - not a good browser, quite slow browsing speeds, only use it for downloading updates.

Avant Browser - another good browser, loads of features, quite slow but secure.

Thats all I have tried so far but I recommend opera or firefox to run.

Here's another Firefox enthusiast since the fall of 2004. Just use IE 7 for Windows Updates and the very sporadic websites that need IE.

    Some of my favorite addons:
    NoScript
    Adblock Plus
    WOT
    Smart Bookmarks Bar

The safest surfer regardless of browser is the one doing the surfing with caution. ;) About 20% of internet users use Firefox. As said, crucial to keep on doing Windows Updates.

PS: Oh and here is a link about tweaking Firefox, if interested: http://www.tweakguides.com/Firefox_1.html

I have also tried Mozilla Minefield the 3.6a1pre version which I forgot off my list of browsers. This browser is super quick which I liked but the downfall is some of the websites don't load up and causes the browser to crash.

I hope they will finally release the final product of mozilla minefield has it so far I think the fastest browser out at the moment.

According to http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp, Firefox accounted for 47.7% of web browsing in May 2009. I've been using it for the last two years or so and definitely prefer it over IE.

You might also try Google's new browser, called Chrome. It seems to be a light-weight, speedy browser.

I would have to disagree with that if its relating to Firefox, yes while its safe from ActiveX malware, its not safe from human interaction in downloading unsafe files, as many users in our malware forum state they use Firefox and suprised they infected as Firefox is touted as protecting them.

It will in regards to ActiveX but not for human error, all borwsers are relitively safe its where we surf and what we download thats the main issue in malware infections.

Tony I have them all installed and you can pick and choose, worth trying Firefox out but also try Opera and Chrome, you may just like the menus and setup of one of them better, for me browser is a browser, if it opens a webpage I'm happy :)

Yes it is fully working now and still in beta 4 not known anything about the final release. Yes its more simplier browser than minefield without all the add ons and things. I really like using the safari 4 browser.

Just to let you all know that opera 10.00 beta 2 is now released and it comes with built in auto page turbo which is really good and works quite well and stable.

I recommend downloading opera browser 10.00 beta 2 to anyone. :-D:-D
