OMG David Carridine just flashed in my mind, we're over the limit here. 4

We're watching one of the tributes to him on ABC. It's sad the downward spiral he took as far as his mental well being. He was such a talented person.

I was talking about that with a couple of co-workers earlier today when we heard the news.

If you weren't old enough to realize it at the time you'll probably never know, but Michael Jackson's influence and contributions to an entire genre of music and dancing are hard to over-state. He had immense talent, whatever mental and physical health issues he might have had, lack of talent was not among them.

It always made me sad to see him be made into such a freak-show, by himself as well as by others. He had the kind of gift that few are blessed with, and maybe the biggest tragedy about him is that it was lost and buried in the circus act/head-case he eventually turned into. That no one will actually remember that talent and creative innovation and his legacy will be as a freak.

Yes, I hate seeing marvelous talent go to waste like this.

i heard about this at work...

he was kind of like OJ Simpson: a talented person, but because he was a celebrity and screwed up, lots of people hate him.

I don't think people see the big picture of what he did for music...if it wasn't for his skin disease (vitiligo) people maybe would have recovered faster from the child molestation trial, but it just wasn't the case.

i say R.I.P. to a very talented, unlucky person.

I'm not exactly saddened by the news of his passing. I was cooking chicken on the grill when it broke on TV, finished cooking and watched some Fox News. I just hope it's not like Elvis' Birthday here, that's all you here on the radio Elvis, blah.. No disrespect meant though.

Putting all the innuendo aside the world has lost a great entertainer and musician.A man who touched the hearts of millions of people a great humanitarian, and truly a great American icon.

    O. J. Simpson had talent? :-D

The only common thread I can find between Simpson and Jackson besides their celebrity status was having lawyers that got them off scott-free from obvious crimes.

Talent in a football sense, sure. Talent in an entertainment media, nah. :-D

  17. murderhigh187

    well, football is entertainment

I would say football (especially the RB position) takes more talent then singing

I think Britney Spears proves my point

Murder, you sure do try and stir the pot around here. A guy died, that's the bottom line. It doesn't matter if he could sing, run, dance, jump, fly, crawl, or pat his head and rub his stomach, he's dead. Although it might not sadden you or I, it will no doubt sadden many. I think 6 people killed themselves to follow Kurt Cobain, let's hope things don't get out of control.

Before we hijack the obituary thread and have it moved to Hot Button, let's just try and settle down.

Britney Spears doesn't prove anything. She made it in the music industry. You can throw all the names out you want, but anyone you name has obviously caught even your attention, so it's a losing battle.

I think you need to relax, Im fine. I didnt really see anything inflammatory about what I said, I just think O.J. was talented.

I think your confusing talent with celebrity

    Here we go...

I think you're confusing Britney Spears with Paris Hilton. I'm not confused at all. Name for me a person who is purely an entertainer, and nothing else beyond that, I mean OJ played football, so you've disqualified him, what are the guidelines? Wait, nevermind... I've learned in the past to stay away from anything you're involved in, and I'm doing that now.

Absolutely, but I don't think there is much chance of him being forgotten for his talent, as for his freak side I believe these damn doctors should be held in part responsible for these celebrities going haywire and either abusing drugs or themselves to the point he reached with the plastic surgery.
I hear his name and think of a little boy (maybe because he's the same age as my son) singing and dancing with his brothers astounding the world. A marvelous talent for sure!

I was never a fan but the guy had a gift that was used and abused by himself and others.
Although he made a phenomenal amount of money it never brought him sanity and like another icon of the music industry (Elvis) he died before his time.

Here is what I was talking about. One show yesterday said his mental problems began when he got burnt doing the Pepsi commercial and became dependent on pain medications, they are horrible, mind altering!

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090626/ap_on_en_mu/us_obit_michael_jackson

Doctors were involved in Anna Nicole Smith, Elvis, god know who else.
These so called doctors need to be prosecuted.

Strange thing is that he's $400M in debt! Or should I say was. Someone was paying the bills, prolly the UK group that booked 50 shows in London. Someone is crying now.:-D

He was working on a comeback. Today his popularity, sales, web searches etc are way higher then they have been in years.

    Nice way to "comeback!"

So no "real news" on what really did cause his death. I watched it that night/early morning. It was pretty sad. I think he was a big part of music and dancing.. And the start of it.. Who would know how it would be without him there at the beginning. Anyways I respect him a lot(like many others), alot people say screw him he did that stuff to a child, or screw him for the top of that building hanging a child out.. But you gotta respect him for what he did for music and his talent. Anyways I hear a few storys(it took the ambulance long time and then it didnt at the house for an hour) and then medicine was the thing the lawyer brought up... so I was just wondering any real news about real cause?

I heard today on the news that it would/could take 6 to 8 weeks before the results of the autopsy. They "think" it may be a combination of the prescription meds may have triggered the heart failure. No concrete evidence until the results come in. The police had requested his personal doc to come down to the station to answer some questions.

Hey there i know i'm coming in on this a bit late, but once saw a really good docu about Michael and when the J5 where on tour many years ago he had to sleep in a room with all his bros an some of the roadies an listen to them having sex, also got offered sex from older girls, he was only about 9/10yr old at the time. These days that would be considered as child abuse so no wonder he acted kinda strange at times and later on in life we find out he's pumping himself full of pills most probably anti D's.

Well some things he said was he "wanted to be loved' sense he was never really loved as a childhood. He also never had a childhood like a child should have.. so thats why he was around young kids alot and had the play ground yard. Also he said he was beaten all the time by his dad, and as a child to even now he would even throw up when his dad would come over (due to how scared he was of his dad and even the beatings).

Thats not a childhood at all, kinda like O'ooh, i was gunner say like yuo would treat an animal but i wouldn't even treat an animal like that it just makes me fume at the way he was treated when he was younger!:mad

Jackson had fifty years living in opulence his every need catered for,one things for sure he did things his way,if only half of us were that lucky.

It does amaze me how attached people get to celebrities, they are purely here for our entertainment and amusement IMO,they wouldn't shed a tear if you died.

Sad?tragedy?Bahh Its just a news story to me.

I google his name and i got a website that is his name. Anyways I was just reading some of the stuff people were writting, and it was all about how can we live now without him, how to get on with life without him, and much more.. Like he was there family, or something.. I feel bad and it sucks.. but everyone is like omg no more worth living on.

I think that sadly we will have some conspiracy theories on his death going around as he had a major tour just about to start that had been pushed back due to the complexity of the show, many thought that at his age he could not stand the level of fitness that woudl be needed to pull off a show like he was planning, this then led to some threats of law suits!

All that combined with previous law suits from the arab shek and pressure to perform, "may" have attributed to his death or like some theorists are saying his fake death! I dont subcribe to the fake death, just think sadly tragic surcumstances maybe pressure of forthcoming tour and like many stars a reliance on meds caused this....

One thing no matter the child cases and his weirdness etc, he was a pioneer of music as we know it and will live on forever with the talent he had for creating and moving forward POP as we know it.

  45. silas

Well they said he was in 400 million in debt but he was going to make 1 million a day over there in his up coming tour. So that could have wiped a lot of debt out. (I think maybe he wanted to do those tours to wipe some debt.. ) but his stuff cost so much just to keep it up and running well.

Hey Ricky i aint attached to MJ i just think it wrong that people get labelled and sometimes hurt due to ignorance, we all have a brain and should be asked to consider things before they are rammed down our throats whether we are children or adults !;)

I read on the front of the Paper just that his doctor who is a cardiac doctor "Living in one of MJ's houses with him BTW." Gave him an injection of Demerol a strong pain killer he was taking regularly just before he died then disappeared for hours after he couldn't revive him.

Yeah read the same today in the Mirror!! maybe just a cop out and easy to blame someone else, later infor on the net say coroner ruled out foul play! Guess death is just that death and likely through a pre existing medical condition or stress of these concerts up coming!
