I wrecked my scooter

well, not really WRECKED, but broken nonetheless...

I JUST get it working, and i go ahead and forget to adjust the chain tension before going riding. Long story short, the chain slipped and the sprocket on the motor snapped clean off.

It will be a task to repair, but gladly the person who sold it to me is chipping in some money to help with the repairs (i need to buy a new clutch, sprocket, and maybe a new chain, which is going to run about $50 total, then after that i need to buy a pipe silencer cause this thing is LOUD. )

it will be awhile before i can repair it. what's frustrating though is that i get this new scooter (not new scooter, but new motor), i finally get rid of my old chinese-made "ripoff" scooter, i wait a week for the new scooter to arrive, spend another week and a half getting the carburetor properly functioning, FINALLY get to ride it, and then this happens.

i'm just glad the chain didn't jam when breaking off, or i would probably be in the hospital...crashing at about 40MPH on a dirt road while riding this would have some really bad consequences for me AND the scooter.

i should buy insurance for this thing...rolleyes

on the PLUS side, i finally passed my driver's test yesterday (2nd time's the charm, i guess) and got my driver's license!! hooray! now i just have to buy a car and be one of those cool guys that drives pointlessly around town to blast music and show off my ride :-D (jk, of course)

i dont have character support on my computer for the iphone characters, so they just look like boxes with numbers in them to me

im not getting a new scooter, im repairing the one i have: http://www.goped.com/products/gtr/default.asp <-- the one i have (its not really what you would think of as a "scooter", but i like it)

 

well i like it except its pretty loud, i have to buy a silencer for it but that takes last priority over fixing it.

i havent tested the top speed yet, but according to the person who sold it to me it can easily reach 40 (it has an aftermarket pipe attached which adds speed but also adds noise )
