Before anyone says Oh no not another brown nose please read on.
I have been a member here for a good while now and have always tried to be courteous to others on the forum and just say thank you for any help i have received.
How the Malware team keep their cool when dealing with some who come here for help is unbelievable, they give of their free time to helping some of the most stupid people on the planet who when they get out of trouble don't even have the manners to post and say 'it's all ok now and thanks'.
My knowledge is very limited but if i have had a problem and it has been resolved by MGs or other means (trial and error) i will always try to help another.
We have a great forum here and i spend many hours reading and trying to learn, it has been built by many knowledgeable members, it is well moderated by vigilant staff who know when to let something pass or when to draw the line.
Without doubt it has changed over time and will no doubt change again in the future but that's evolution.

This rant is aimed at the egotistical and selfish people who don't think a thank you is necessary, well look at it this way it costs nothing and goes a long way in telling the members who are dedicated to keeping this the number 1 forum for technical help they are not wasting their time.

If you got this far thanks for your time.
    Bill

I agree with ya Bill. Me personally I always say my thanks when someone helps me out here. I would feel like a dick if I didn't, regardless of if we personally know the people who helped it is just courtesy to extend a thank you to those who took time out of there day to help out.

My thoughts exactly Bill it takes an age for people from start to finish sometimes get sorted, it takes a couple of secs to either press the persons thanks button or say thankyou !

    Hi Bill

I'd like to add to your post and say I really do love it when the original poster who asks a question, comes back even if we have helped or not to say a fix has worked, this is great in helping others and adding to our knowledge base, I know I dont know everything so love it when a weird fix I have suggested works, helps me add to my long list of fixes.

Sadly Bill we live n a world where many think you HAVE to help them NOW without any common courtesy's as you say a simple "Thank you" we even added/have the Thanks Button so that this would be easier and tidier in the threads.

I'm definitely in agreement that common courtesy has flown the coop and needs a serious come-back in all phases of life, real and cyber. (And a dose of "it's MY responsibility to do something". End of mini-rant.)

Jeez, I'd offer you a beer and choco any day Emms and for no technical help reasons either.;):)

Erm, to get back to the original point,:-o:), it's the same at most help forums I believe, for some reason people believe it's their right to get prompt service from a volounteer type site such as this and just leave until the next time they're crying for help!:cry

I bet %99.9 of folks just come, take what they need and leave forever. It's just the nature of the beast but as rustyjack says, it doesn't take much time to thank someone properly. *sigh*.

Oh well, I wouldn't be in this game too if that really bothered me.;)

From one who has been helped greatly, I'd like to know if there is a way we could contribute to the upkeep of MG, or at least to the malware fighters' pizza fund.

Just say this thread. Upon reading, realized how many like that I have run into.Even after guiding and helping them, they are just "too busy" to just click one button or type a few words of gratitude.
Makes me wish I could roll back the clock to undo what had been accomplished on their behalf.
