PB Bio shutdown driving me nuts!

Hey there.

Hoping you guys can help me out.

I have a couple of issues with my PB EasyNote 6.

First thing...It doesnt restart it just shutdowns. I have searched the internet for this issue but every post I come across seem to have the opposite problem.

My main problem is, I wish to format the harddrive, but each I enter the bios it shutsdown, doesn't even shut down just goes off.

These are the only problems it has but it is beginning to annoy the crap out me!

The E6 isnt my primary computer, I have never had such issues with my PB Imedia.

Help pleaseeeee.

 

OKay new problem just discovered...the tap pad thing is tapping as a righthand click!

Where do I change this??

 

Hi KatD and welcome to Major Geeks could you give us a bit more information on your problem .. ie... when did the problem start/what you have tried to rectify, can you boot fully, did you get any on screen reports when it started??? I take it your running XP Pro, do you have XP disc to reinstall or repair ??

 

It has been doing the restart thing for a while, nothing I could do as I haven't been able to find any clue to why it is doing it in the first place.

It boots fine.
No screen reports or errors.
XP Pro, yes.

I do have the XP disc, it just states that there is already a version of XP running.

As for the Tap Pad being a right click, that has only started today, I have attempted altering the setting to no avail.

Could be overheating .. have you defluffed lately ? Open the case when it is fully powered off like take out main power lead at rear for safety and see if there is any dust in there paticularly below and on your CPU heatsink fan. If so bench the rig and clean right out and if need be remove the 4 screws/connector holding the fan and clean the fins. Anywhere else you see dust collected clean out. Either get a tin of computer compressed air or as I do have a soft paint brush (new) and flick into hoover nozzle.

 

hey thx for this...I had been thinking over heating, but had no other issues with it, but this afternoon it has been just turning off after a few minutes, so I think that must be the problem.

I will have a clean out and let you know how I get on!

OKay checked the fan, it really had no fluff or crap in it, but i think it is the fan, but it was incredibly hot even after the computer being off for 5-10 minutes. Anyway, I have ordered a replacement, should be here is a few days!

Thats highly probable KatD, as with all moving parts there is a life span. Let us know how you get on as it will add to library for others to see that have a similar problem

 

Hey again!

I am pleased to say....ohhhh yes it was the fan, little bugga it is!
Well no problems replacing it, only problem bug bare I had was all the screws!!
And the one I drop on the rug which took me longer to find than replacing the fan!

I am pleased to say the restarting issue is sloved and it is happily formatting the harddrive for me, plus I assume the touchpad issue will resolve once formatted.

So this is one happy lass thanking you for your advice and general guidance

 

Glad to hear its resolved ... here's a little tip ... Go get yourself a Magnetic Screwdriver there invaluable.
