how can i show you all whats running on my pc, so U can help me figure it out what - if anything - can kill?

Us knowing what the processes active on your system are doesn't really mean anything, without knowing *why* you feel the need to close any.

Do say what your Operating System is, what Service Pack is installed as well.

welll my laptop runs pretty good but Outlook 2007 runs SLOW as ----... thats the first symptom.. also i just want to generally speed things up as much as i can.. and i am SURE there things running that i dont need running..

ok well yea U can read all troubles with OTL and it prolly is a GMail - IMAP OTL issue but i've done all the trouble shooting and fixing i can do on that issue... anyway, i have posted my screen shots.

oh sorry - misunderstood... and i figured since i/we reached the end of that road and still things gotr no better.. we might explore other reasons.

There's no list of Start Ups there.
You have a truly massive list of running processes but it is the START UP MENU that will inform us which of those processes start automatically there. Managing the start ups will have an effect on overall system performance.
But either way, I've glanced over it and cant see anything there that sticks out and says 'I'm causing Outlook to go slow'.

Personally I think 'FreeRam' is inferior and 'CleanMem' is far better, which is also hosted over on the majorgeeks download pages.

TBH I would remove any ram apps from Vista as it memory managment routines are far superiour to Windows XP and any Ram app, your just adding an unneccassary addition to using ram up with these apps, it could also be causing your issue in theory.

Yep, I would say you have as many as 10 or more start ups there that are unneeded since they are processes that will automatically launch when you choose to use/launch their parent programs.

yea i switched to cleanmem -- all i need to do is intsall it? no settings?

i know if U give me a fish i eat for a day but if you teach me to fish etc etc but i dont know too much about processes so dont know what to keep or not

Point [1] Yes, you simply install it and forget about it - the good thing about CleanMem is that it uses no ongoing RAM or CPU - that's the beauty of it. I agree with Halo's comment about Vista being better than XP at managing RAM but CleanMem is not like other Ram optimization programs, and does not itself add a burden to system resources but *does* every 30 mins maximise RAM optimization and has worked well on Vista systems I have installed it on.

Point [2] Yes I fully understand that - most users wouldn't know. That is precisely why I linked you to two excellent websites that do that work for you. You simply type into their search boxes each of those processes appearing in your 'START UP' screenshot, one by one, and read what they say about them.
If you are still confused about what to do with any particular process, then do come back here and give the exact name/s of that process/es and one of us will give our interpretation of it.

As a general rule for these issues you have posted about and any others you encounter on your system, it is essential that you read guides very carefully, and also any answers given, or questions asked in response to a query you post in a forum like this. That's why always dealing with them calmly and carefully pays dividends.
It could save you a huge amount of time and avoid problems if you do.
I do hope you don't mind me saying that and apologise if it comes across as at all patronising - it really isn't meant that way. It's just that attention to detail is pretty crucial in maintaining a computer - as you could see when you were trying to deal with Outlook 2003 crashing and now with Outlook 2007 being very slow.

we are prolly going into an area where we dont need to go but i try to read them carefully etc, and try to do what they say. (as an example, i take medicine i swear i read the bottle 10 times and swear it said two a day) - i go to my doc, guess what ONE a day.. anyway i went to the processlib website but it was like this is used for that.. yes so? i mean i need something that says do not delete this, or yes U can delete this..
or maybe there's no solution for these issues and outlook will be outlook. and i dont mean to sound snippy but what should i do come back here with all 88 processes/questions.

OK well with the greatest respect the Bleeping Computer site and the Process Library site do give statements about whether the process is essential or not - they actually use the word 'essential' when it is, and they also use phrases like 'down to user preference' in cases like - for example 'Instant Messengers', some people want MSN or Yahoo or AIM or Skype in start up because they *always* use them immediately, whereas many users will *launch* MSN or Yahoo or Skype or AIM as and when they choose. Again - *you* have to do the research about what is happening and what *you* need on *your* system.
As regards attention to detail, the last sentence of your quote above confuses me, or you are just being ironic - because your START UP list of processes has nothing like 88 items. It is the START UP list that needs researching at those websites and *not* the Task Manager processes list.

so if i go to task manager and end a process will the end it every time?
i just looked at 3 different things in proc lib and only one said user prefs...
