Microsoft Office

I previously installed Office 2002, removed it and installed Office XP with Front Page and choose to only install Word (as I have no use for the other programs).

Windows Update is listing updates for: Microsoft Excel 2002; Power Point 2002: Office 2002: Publisher, etc. Since I don't have those programs they must still be on my computer somewhere for updates for them to be found. I removed 2002 files from my computer and went into the registry and did the same.

What do I have to do to remove all traces of the previously installed software for Office 2002? :confused

 

Office 2002 = Office XP; they are one and the same.

Since Office 2002 = Office XP and you had "removed" Office 2002, what 2002 files did you find that you removed? How did you determine what registry entries to remove? The registry is a risky place to be, if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

 

usafvetern: Thanks for your reply. But if they are both the same why did I get updates for Office XP and Office 2002? Where did you find the information about them being one and the same? I'd like to read it.

 

The download page states "Use at your own risk." I'm not very knowledgeable about computers and hesitate to use that utility.
