That’s so strange “they don’t call it “down under for nothing”” I was on the Broome forum in Australia trying to locate my grandson when I came across the quote, weird :confused

 

I will at some time in my life live in the Ausie out-back. Real deep in the wilderness.. Farm sheep or what ever to keep one busy. Square miles of land ownership - no neighbours for 100's of clicks a single engined aircraft for weekly shopping.. Bliss

@ Tony:- Broome is one of the places I would visit again. Cable Beach, lazy days, great food, fishing and one the best sunsets on Earth. :cool

@ sikvik:- You don't have to go too far to be real isolated out here. Once you're about 50km out from the city, it's pretty much all country. Another 50km and it's nothing but country. If you include desert, which it is for the most part.

 

That’s amazing Phantom. The grandson, Shaun went to Australia in March with two friends stayed in Perth for a while, his two friends couldn’t hack it and came home, Shaun left Perth and went to Broome, he’s doing DJ work there and has landed a gig in a big nightclub, working at the race track and in bars, 22 and having the time of his life.

 

I have a friend who lives on that little Island just S. of the Mainland in Austrailia, called "Tasmania"... And from what I have seen, it is just beautiful. :heart

@Phantom, are you on the Mainland?

@tonyhale, sounds like your grandson is enjoying himself, and what is not to enjoy there? I'd love to go too someday.......

If I'd know you wanted to sheep farm could have used your help on Thursday, I spent five hours playing midwife to the Ewes who are lambing now, my legs are still aching from all the walking back and forth

the attached pic is of a maiden with her first born it's less than a minute old and 'cause this is her first she promptly took off, we had to chase her, catch her and pen her with her newborn so that they would bond.

@ T.C.:- I'm in Western Australia - somewhere in the outer Perth suburbia, but Launceston, Tas. was our first taste of Aust. A very pretty place, which I'm considering moving back to at some stage. http://tourtasmania.com/content.php?id=launceston

@ Tony:- It's a small world after all, eh, as the song would tell us. Perth is a good place to live, but can't say much for the Govt. Then again, it's similar problems if I ever moved back to the U.S. or U.K. again. Guess dodgy govt. is pretty universal these days.

Ok.. The one thing I can't handle is an animal in distress. Coming from a dog loving - or should I say obsessed family. I made sure I was conveniently busy each time a litter arrived. Same went, for laying down a pet to rest.

But... when I do arrive, will have to give you lessons in photography :-D

Right oh , it's on then :-D, it's not like as if I took the Canon equipment just for a snap of a lambing ewe, so you can hardly expect quality shots in the class of Annie Leibovitz or Ansel Adams. :-D

I took the snap with my little 2mp mobile phone camera.

Here I had taken a few deep breaths, lit up a cig and braced myself for a gory pic. Heck tractor tracks :-D

 

I could have snapped a pic of all the yucky and bloody bits, but such things aren't usually to the liking of most/some folk.

Tractor tracksLOL, close but no cigar for you tody - that's ploughing marks - it's the firebreak along each fence line in case of fire during the summer, the cooler months is the best time to do this because the earth is softer to plough. If you hang around here long enough you might learn enough about farming to know that you don't actually want to do it for keeps:-D (specially if you don't like the yucky jobs that are part of it.)
