system restore corrupted

    Hi Major Geeks

    I've been receiving some help over at www.techspot.com but my friend Bobbye is now busy and I am still having problems. The main thing is the system restore is corrupted but also at the moment I am having problems with OE - error message

    The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Matthew ', Server: 'mail.messagingengine.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 26, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

    and firefox needing to close. Panda quickscan showed 3 vulnerabilities detected but no infections.

    I am attaching a hijack this log.

    Really appreciate any help

    A HijackThis log is of no use to us. Based on what you posted here about your problems and based on your other thread at TechSpot ( i.e., http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic130244.html ) you are not really havig malware problems. No real malware was removed there. Just some unnecessary items.

    It you want to remove items from System Restore, you just need to disable system restore and then reenable it. ( see Disable And Enable System Restore)

    For you other issues with OE, you should post in the Software Forum.

    Hi Chaslang

    thanks for your help. I have followed instructions for windows restore and now have a brand new restore point although I am not able to restore prior to today.
    OE was solved by using a different SMTP port so that is good.
    Otherwise my technika wireless keyboard stopped working a couple of weeks ago and I am not sure if this is connected with malware removal/vulnerabilities detected by Panda etc. The wireless mouse which uses the same receiver as keyboard as receiver is working fine. I have checked batteries of keyboard and they are fine. Is there anything I can send you which would help in diagnosing what has caused this problem?

    I also checked the above which was one of the main reasons I decided to seek help initially. This is the programme that enables BT Mobile broadband to work on my laptop. I can install the programme but when I try to run it, the system freezes up. I can see from task manager that btomo.exe uses up 99% of CPU resources, hence the freezing :( Not sure what to do.....

    After you disable System Restore, there are no restore points to restore to other than the one created after renenabling System Restore.

    You should verify that you did not remove anything with Panda that you need for your hardware. Reinstall the drivers if necessary. You should continue with this in the Hardware Forum.

    Not an issue for this forum. Please post in the Software Forum. Disable it or uninstall it if you don't need it.
