Not A home system it's for kids learning to read in a rehab. yes there is a network installed

  5. Is it just this machine?
If its a network can you not ask the admins/technicians to add the inappropriate websites to a web filtering system such as websense? or does the rehab not have this facility?

block all outgoing port 80 requests except the domains you want to use..
When you want to use the computer just turn off the firewall unless somebody has a different idea..
Or you can just log in to another pc account.

I am going to assume they will be monitored?

Or you can just log in to your other account on the computer.
Besides its not like hes going to be downloading and surfing pirate bay...
    Its a rehab center.

But, yeah in today's day in age i would keep my firewall on.

    Perhaps changing computer accounts. :)

I don't think turning off the firewall is the ticket. It wouldn't take long before someone "discovers" I can turn off the firewall and go anywhere I want.

Likewise, I've heard stories where someone wanted to remove google search. It didn't take long for someone to discover how to use another search engine to get to google to use it.

On a silly note, since Norton seems very good at blocking sites you want to go to - I here stories about this all the time, just install Norton! :-D
