    Greetings.

It seems my wife's laptop has a virus. Before I do a OS re-install I thought I would post the logs here, as per the forum. The main symptom is that the OS slows to a crawl, and the dreaded "Firefox is still running . . . " message and it cannot shut down.

Logs are attached. Thanks for any help!

Based on the logs you attached, you are not having malware problems. You did not attach the logs from SAS or MBAM but it looks like they find nothing. Your main problem is that you have half the recommended amount of memory to properly run Vista. Your logs show
    Code:
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 1.00 GB
    Total Physical Memory 0.99 GB
    Available Physical Memory 167 MB
You should double your memory to 2 GB.

Issues with FireFox still running are not due to malware. You may have other problems within your OS causing this or problems with FireFox. While a reinstall may initially seem to improve performance, once you reinstall all of your software and get all updates and service packs, it will tend to be slowing down and this will be due to lack of memory.

    chaslang -

Thanks for the reply. I am pretty sure it is a virus; my desktop had it with 2 gigs. I did some research and based on my that I concluded it was a virus. I cannot remember the specifics, but non-the-less I could not get rid of the problem.

I know one gig is not much for Vista, but my wife basically runs Firefox and email from it. And up until the Firefox issue, everything ran fine. I am savvy enough to keep it running clean as far as background stuff, etc. Something was amiss with the computer.

I thought I had included all of the logs. My fault. Regardless, I reinstalled the OS and the appropriate protection!

    You're welcome.

Not according to your logs. It was more likely an issue within Vista.
