Boinc and FaH

Can Boinc and FaH be working at the same time on one machine?
Machine is P4 HT capable. Each one using half of the CPU?
Trying to increaser production.

 

I do not have the knowledge to answer,but will research later in the week.

just returned from visiting mother and sister.

Was a nice surprise to see that my wife kept one of my production computers running when our electric went out multiple times while I was away.

I personally do not use/engage the hyper threading on my single core P4 as it crunches at 50% instead of 100% or the 90% I set it to while using the gpu client on the same system.

50% is useless to me as when I have permission to fold on a computer that is not mine I always set the client to 70% as a courtesy.

 

Looks like it can be done but think it depends on your graphic card. Sorry hardware is not my thing, found this info and hope it helps others help you.

Nah, there's only so much CPU available unless Boinc is GPU only. I don't know it. But since you mentioned it, I'll have to test it out now:banghead!:-D

 

Thinking a bit more on this, I believe your best bet is going to have to choose between one or the other. There is overhead associated with each, running both only slows down your production for all.

You need a compatable GPU and drivers. You might want to look into bumping up the fan RPM on the card, Folding does create some heat!

Knew about the heat long ago on the client(s) I'm currently running.All CPU though.Only graphics I have at the moment is onboard.

LOL, thanks. But I think I only have one GPU on that user name. Got almost 6.5 million on the team that I will not metion. :-D

BTW, I'm running VirtualBox SMP ATM with Ubuntu 8.0.4.2, near 4K PPD on my stock Q6600. Double what I'd normally get on VMWare!:eek 7.5 min. TPF?

Darn thing is quircky though. If you don't mind some :banghead and get it going properly, the production is real sweet. WTF man! (That is only for folders to use. Way To Fold!)
