    Hello There,

I'm just curious as to which browser is prefered by most people. Here is the list as follows.

    Mozilla Firefox 3.5.2
    Mozilla Firefox 3.6 alpha 1
    Netscape Navigator 9.0
    IE 8
    Avant Browser 11.7 Build 36
    Opera 10.00
    Google Chrome 2.0
    Slimbrowser 4.12 Build 013
    Safari 4.0

I keep changing my browser (I know stupid!) but I am just stuck to which is better to run and surf web with

Firefox 3.5.2 - and as a second browser, I'll use IE6 or IE7 depending on what's installed. If it's IE8 and no other browser is installed, I'll use Firefox Portable at least temporarily.

On my home PC, I use FF352 exclusively and NEVER have any problems. I'm always reading about people needing IE for this site or that site, but FF352 has worked flawlessly for everything I need.... if (for some reason) it won't work (and it always has) on my home PC, I use Opera which is installed and updated at all times.
    :-D

(a couple years ago, I used PhaseOut a alot - it's IE based but it had tabs before IE did, and it seemed faster at the time)

haha! if browsers where classed as girlfriends ill be one big cheat as I have used them all, the only thing I have noticed with FF it takes quite a load of resources when i check in the task manager it was showing atleast 200,000K so I have decided to uninstall that and gone back to google chrome 2.0 which dosn't use much resources as FF does. But then all browsers are different.

I agree I don't intend on using beta versions but it was someone on here that told me the new Mozilla Minefield browser was the fastest so I given it a try and don't get me wrong it's very fast but most sites don't work on it as its still in beta.

I have now gone back to Google Chrome 2.0 with IE 8 Combination. Google Chrome for surfing and IE 8 for downloading any windows updates.

I really havn't tested others like Chrome or Opera.. I d had to download them and test them. I like and prefer Firefox, and IE usually runs slow for me.

IE or Firefox crashes are generally down to poorly written add-ons, toolbars etc

Think this is one of those questions that there is no right or wrong answers, as I mentioned its whatever floats your boat, I've not had issues with any of them at all, yeah the occasional crash, but in the main its down to a badly written or more so of late I forget that many pages and ones created with Flash, cause 64bit Browsers to hang for a bit and I have to swap to a 32bit browser, but thats Adobes issue in not having a 64bit version of Flash Player yet.

I do have favourites and ones I dont really like, Netscape and Chrome I'm not fussed on.

Firefox became my favorite when I discovered the speed dial add on, and I'm using the newest version, 3.5.3. I was using Opera and just upgraded to the new 10.0. Opera was my default browser on the laptop until I found the speed dial on Firefox, which has more features than Opera's speed dial. With Firefox's speed dial, you can organize the dials into groups, and I find I'm using this rather than bookmarks. This keeps me tidy, too. When a link is no longer current, I just clear the speed dial thumbnail for that link.

Firefox hasn't crashed on me in months, but I finally managed to do it today, with several tabs open, a graphics rich page trying to load, and I was attempting to print a highlighted selection from that page all simultaneously.

Oh, BTW, Firefox still hasn't fixed it's bug with printing images and entire web pages that would take more than 1 page, even after all these years, so you'll still need another browser if you want to do that.

So I use FF by default, Opera as a second (Opera's skins are nicer, too) and for e-mail on my laptop, and IE7 for Windows updates. :)

FF used to be my fav untill it started to crash on me and using quite a lot of resources which then i decided to uninstall and use a different internet browser.

Try Minefield 3.7, while its a pre-alpha version so not even a beta, its working really well for me and I have followed the Minefield project for years as I like the memory usage and stability of this, even being test version, not many add-ons work with it but many of them are what cause the excessive memory usage in the first place.

    http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla....nk/firefox-3.7a1pre.en-US.win32.installer.exe

its very early test as in pre-alpha but I've not had any issues with it in Vista or Windows 7, so will likely be ok in XP also.

I have downloaded the minefield browser 3.7 and yeah i agree its a fast browser and really good, not using alot of resources as many add ons dont work.

    Trying out Minefield myself.
Found so far that my favorite (Opera) is faster. Also, Minefield shows up as Firefox in Task Manager and uses the same amount of resources as Opera.

It looks to me on these posts that people just download more than one browser to use for surfing, probably some people out there have downloaded all the browsers to their computer.
