Please tell me how to hide the the url address bar in Internet Explorer or remove it completely. I don't use it since I have Google and MSN search windows so it's just taking up room.
I will attach a screen shot of the area.
    Any help is very appreciated.
    Thanks

You can remove the Address Bar one of several ways, so, here are 2 suggestions:

    1. Go to Explorer, View, Toolbars, and uncheck Address Bar or

    2. Follow the instructions at www.uniblue.com which state as follows:
"If you want, you can remove this bar from internet explorers browser window. For this, go to start > run, enter regedit and navigate to the registry path listed below. If any of the subkeys internet explorer\toolbars\restrictions is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a dword value noaddressbar, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value to 1 which can remove address bar from internet explorer's window. However, to show the address bar again in internet explorer window, you have to add it manually. Go to address bar menu item under view > toolbars menu and add a checkmark to it. The address bar will appear in your internet explorer. Important: in windows 2003, to show the address bar in internet explorer, simply change the dword value of noaddressbar to 0. The changes will take effect after a restart or logoff."

Well I certainly like the first suggest much better than the second one..lol
However when I go to view then toolbar this option is not there.
I will try the second on but this Grandma feels like she is reading Greek..lol
Thanks and I will let you know if I can get the bar removed by doing this.
    Have a great week!

Do you need both Google and MSN toolbars on IE? What about the Menu Bar?

I'm not sure this is a very good idea at all. Websites and emails often carry disguised links to dodgy sites, and when using a link I'm not sure about, I always check the address bar to see where I've actually been directed.

Yes i need them both. I work on the internet doing searches for my products. As you know you do get different results. Until the URL Bar at the top was put on, I actually used Google, MSN and Yahoo to find what I was looking for.
Yahoo was the widest and the one I used the least so I removed it to cut down on the size of the toolbar. I keep all my seaches in favorites in the menu bar.
The only thing I never use is the Internet URL bar

Hi I am not sure what a doggy site is but I really never use this bar for anything. I don't check it after I do a search. To me it's just a royal pain to have it there..lol
Thanks anyway for the warning. If for any reason I need it back I am sure it can be put back on.
    Have a great evening.

Well gosh darn shucky poo it won't let me remove the wrong file. Guess I need to add a new post with the right one.
Hi' I used the link and went to the website. I did make sure the bar was unlocked but I do not have address checked so I could not uncheck this.

Here is what is said to do.
Step 1Right-click on the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your screen, and select "Explore." Windows Explorer should pop up.
Step 2Ensure that your address bar is not locked by clicking on the "View" button and select "Toolbars." If the "Lock the Toolbars" option is checked, click on it to unlock the toolbar. (I DID MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT LOCKED.)
Step 3Click on the "View" button and select "Toolbars," then click on "Address Bar" to remove this toolbar from Windows Explorer.
I tried the steps suggested earlier about changing the registry but it didn't work either. I of course have no clue as to what I was suppose to be doing.
I am attaching another screenshot in hope that someone can tell me what I did wrong..lol

Why not switch to Firefox, since it will let you hide the Navigation Toolbar?

ok I did try this but I am sure I messed up somewhere.
I will add the screen shot of the results to see if you can help me figure out what I did wrong. :-o
If not then I guess I will just have to live with it, but I really do find this annoying.

I did try FoxFire when it first came out, but hated it. When you get as old as I am you hate changes. Guess this is one reason this URL bar is so annoying to me..lol
I am sure you can tell I am not a technical person at all so if they don't write the instructions where a 5 yr old can understand them then I am lost.
