Im trying to do this portion of the Malware removal guide. When I go to add or remove programs Java does not show up on the list. I did a search and the Java file in windows is empty with 2 empty folders named classes and trustlib. Wondered what do I do at this point?

Finished the malware removal process and everything worked except rootrepeal. I got a blue screen when trying to run rootrepeal.

The reason for me doing this is due to my password to a game I play being comprimised. I did do a virus scan with my zonealarm and clean disk as well as defrag on my own before coming here so maybe somethings got taken care of when i did that. I did see that mbam detected 3 things as well as combofix during its scan deleted some files. I am a complete noob as far as knowing what these logs mean so please let me know.

Thanks for anyhelp you can give :).

    Finished the first round

I originally attached this to my Java update thread. Not a good idea cause it looks like it got overlooked. I uploaded attachments there so I cant upload them here. Please if possible attach them here and delete my other thread. Or i will attach them after you delete whatever is easier.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your logs are all clean. The items removed were insignificant.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thank you for the help. I did the final steps.

Just needed a little more reassurance I'm kinda skeptic as to if its really gone. Hope you can see where I'm coming from after having my account comprimised. So just doing my own scan and delete with Zone alarm took care of it? Could something still be hiding somewhere even after all the things we did here? Was wondering why rootrepeal didnt work.

Thanks again I'll be using your site to learn more about my computer so maybe I can keep these things from happening before I get comprimised.:)

Don't know since I don't know what Zonealarm supposedly found. All I can tell you is that there was nothing in your logs to indicate any malware problems.

There are never any guarantees but since nothing at all was found, the best guess is that you do not have any malware to worry about.

Some PCs just have problems running it. Sometimes settings can be tweak to get it to run but it is not necessary based on the status of your other logs.
